My basic motivation to use "OptInEmail" in conjunction with "Dynamic Registration" was the lack of "Extended Fields" validation and Localization in "OptInEmail". My newsletter subscription is now integrated into the "Dynamic Registration" module on a page which is accessible only for portal subscribers.

To edit their newsletter subscription (and registration) subscribers need to login.. Now I run into the problem that I can't include the user name in my email newsletter message since no $(username) parameter is supported. Providing that would allow a more seamless cooperation of these two (nice) modules.

You may argument that OptInEmail and registration information should not be mixed up.. you might be right, but  nobody would be forced to use it..

I was thinking about assigning the email to the user name field on registration but I don't like the solution (spam, unique email..)
I also would prefer not to provide a "Opt In Email Module" on a public page to let subscribers opt out independently from their portal registration..

Do you see any other work around?
