SQL combo is initialized while its question value is not assigned

     Hi. I created two dependent combo questions by steps in Demonstration 11 with version 2.60.70. But my first combo is initialized with data from SQL and the second combo is not initialized while it is hidden. My submit event executes INSERT SQL statement but default combos values are not assigned to appropriate $() question values.

    Everything works after user select another value from the first combo and then value from second combo.

    1. How to initialize both combos and appropriate question values on module load?

    2. I need to display "1 item has been inserted" or "item already exists" message just after submit call. How to determine if INSERT statement succeeded? Can I call SELECT statement right after insert? Should I define another Form completion event of SELECT SQL type?

    Hi. I would sure the forums or $(DSParam1)... There are a few querystring variables that can be used upon module load such as DSParam1, DSParam2, and DSParam3. You could pass this along the query string to load it automatically and you could link it to a short field name with that same name.

    As far as the '1 item has been inserted'. I would use either a question event or a client side event (if field is already posting back with a question event you might have to use a question event) to 'un-hide' or display a message to the user. Such as unhiding an HTML field that says '1 item has been inserted'. You might check out demonstration 14 as it displays some messages as well such as 'Inserting record', 'Deleting record' etc...
