I have a from that, when submitted, does a SQL insert into a custom table. The table has an Identity column which is the new Order number.

I then have an email compl. event that sends the details of the order to an office email account.

The problem I have is the Identity column value. Is it possible, perhaps in the SQL event, to lookup the value after the insert and assign it to a token so that it can be used in the email event? The office personnel need this Order number to complete the processing of the order and the Installer needs this Order number when he completes the install so that the new customer can be added to the database.

    Jim,

Currently this feature does not exist. We will review adding it, possibly allowing the SQL Event to return a value and if present used as a token based on the SQL Event Name. For now though the recommended way to handle this would be to use the token available $(UniqueCompletionID). This is a global unique identifier (GUID) and is actually recommended over a standard auto number identity column etc... If this is a new implementation this would be easier to handle, but either way you can then reference this within the email event and also use it as a primary key?

Thanks, Chad but their entire system uses this ID field and it is a 10 digit numeric field.

Any idea yet when 2.7.1 will be released?

Hi. Actually it will be 2.7.2 as we had a few minor fixes going in and it should be released by the end of the week. The fixes relate to drag and drop issue if there are no other fields on the form currently, and a fix for the settings relating to hiding a field by role saving correctly but not getting set back if you edit a field. This won't offer anything for your specific situation though. Are there many users submitting these forms? You could default a hidden field to the next item in the list (CurrentCount +1 as a SQL default) but this wouldn't work if two users went to the form at the same time etc...

No, I am looking forward to the hidden fields being used to trigger events feature

I have thought of using your solution, Max(OrderNumber)+1 but, with my luck another person in the office will submit an order first...might get messy since this Order number follows the order through the entire process.

Hi. Yes I have been following Sean and your threads related to this. I am not sure the enhancement will make the 2.7.2 release but hopefully (right now its just these two patch fixes for drag/drop and hide by role). We have added the features to create a question event based on a hidden field, and although this does work it does not currently work based upon no postback/querystring value. We are reviewing this as it should/this would be the ideal scenario for this feature however question events were originally set to be based on a postback so we are reviewing this code.
