I just purchase Dynamic Reg. I've setup completion event > Dynamic email for Initial Registration in order to send a verification code. Send To is set to $(Email), Email From is set to my email support address. However, when the registration is submitted no email is sent.

How do I know it's behaving correctly? I’m new to all of this.

    Hi Gary,

Please do a quick test for me:  Go to Admin, Newsletters, and try to send yourself an email.  Let me know if you got this email.

If you do not get your email from here, please go to Host, Host Settings and check your SMTP settings.  You may have to work with your hosting company to set this up properly.

Once we are sure that your basic DNN functions work, we can then look at the other factors within Dynamic Reg and the email completion event.  Let us know what happens, ok?

    Thanks,
    Candace

I did a test newsletter and it sent ok. I have other applications that send messages and they send without any problems.

    Thanks,

    Gary

Thanks for testing. Now, let's focus on the registration form and see if we can eliminate the usual suspects. Do you have other completion events like page redirects and/or role assignments? Do they fire properly? Are the user accounts getting created correctly?

Are you using a payment gateway like Authorize.net or Paypal or is this a straight registration?

    Thanks,
    Candace

Yes, I have another completion events for role assignments.

A Paypal gateway. My next question was going to be why isn't it redirecting me to paypal? Should it be? To let you know I am VERY green to all of this.

Also there are big gaps between fields. you can see it at http://mygumbopot.com/signuptest/ta...fault.aspx

I'm still in the early planing stage if you need access to my site to see what's going on.

    Thanks,
    Gary

Glad to hear that your email is now going out.

The strange gaps between fields is an issue we identified with DNN 4.9 and the FCK Editor.  We are expecting a release of a Dyn Reg and Dyn Form that has a fix for this issue within the next week.  Once it's ready, you'll find it available under Patches and Hotfixes.

Regarding your PayPal question, there are many factors why it would not redirect.  Please visit our Dynamic Forms Demonstrations and review our Demo 15, Demo 16 and Demo 17 .  These are Dyn Forms but should work the same for Dynamic Registration.

If the problem persists after verifying that settings are correct, then please open a support ticket.  Thanks!

    Hi Gary,

Our Support Desk page offers various ways to get support.  Option 2 has links to where you can open support tickets depending on where you purchased your module(s).  Option 3 also gives a link to our Contact Us form.  You're welcome to use any of these (and the forums) when you need help.  Thanks!

So in DNN 6.1.2 and Dynamic Registration does the email from address still need to be the same as the host setttings? I cannot get mine to send an email upon registration.

This is what I had to do to make it work was to match the Host email with the from email in the registration completion event. Any way not to have this be a requirement?

Hi. Well this is really up to your SMTP host credentials and not something we can control and the issue you brought up is really separate from the issue that this thread is about). This thread is about earlier versions of DNN that had problems with the "From Email Name". Usually if you have to use that email this is a restriction with your email/SMTP provider. Can you use a different from name in DNN or in other modules? What errors do you see under Admin, Event Viewer if you don't use this from email? That error (if any) is the error being returned from your SMTP server when you try and use an email address that is not associated with that particular account.

    Thanks,

    Chad

I've tried every way, and so far the only way it will work is if the email in the host settings matches the from email in dynamic registration.

    Hi Bon,

You may have to work with your hosting company to check for restrictions that prevents you from sending out emails unless you use the host settings. Thanks!
