DNN 4.3.5 and Dynamic Registration 2.4.2 (the newest release)

I created my questions (and they worked) and then I set up the DNN Core Integration to map the Dynamic Registration fields I had created to the DNN User, Profile and Profile Properties. I got this error when I saved the settings: A Critical Error Has Occurred! Unable to find control id 'responses_adc42624-20c6-4550-9f93-79e7ec75b105' referenced by the 'ControlToValidate' property of 'ExpressionValidate_adc42624-20c6-4550-9f93-79e7ec75b105'. How when I click the page (after deleting cache) this is all I get. It can't display my questions.

The Question field associated with the DynamicQuestionID=adc42624-20c6-4550-9f93-79e7ec75b105 was a simple Telephone number field; one that I did not map to a DNN field. I deleted this row in the table and tried to get Dynamic Registration to build my page again, and I got the same error with a different DynamicQuestionID. I repeated this until I ended up deleting almost all of my question.

Hi. We have had another client report this but have not been able to duplicate it directly ourselves. After reviewing it and fixing the issue we ended up deleting some settings from the modulesettings table directly related to that questionID.

More than likely this is caused by (or at least related to):
    * A field getting deleted that was set as a password or confirm password fields. Or, maybe moving confirm password and password fixed in front of or after each other. There is required validation/compare validation fields setup on the fields so its possible that if its trying to set the compare validation on the 'Confirm Password' but the password field has not yet been added to the form that this could cause the issue. There are a few other scenarios which this might happen and usually related to compare validators etc...

From your description above it sounds to me like this is related to a regular expression validator. I am reviewing the code and the only controls that are named "ExpressionValidate...." is the regular expression validation.

If this happens I again I would do two things:
    1. Keep a copy of your edit URL handy. This way even if you can't get to 'Manage Settings' because of this error you can still get to it from this URL. If you don't already have it you can always get to it by generating something like this:
    http://www.yoursite.com/default.asp...p;ctl=Edit

    2. Until you determine which client side validation control is causing the error you can turn off 'client side validation' from within general settings.

If you still continue to get the issue after #2 then its for sure a password/confirm password issue because those are the only two fields that ignore and force client side validation for required fields and/or compare validation.

    Hope this helps.

    -Chad

I just realized the I used the field compare validation to confirm that password and confirm password were the same and that this wasn't necessary because it's already there. Could that have caused the problem?

Yes, this for sure could cause an issue. The password field (at least in the corrent release) is a forced field and there must be a password, confirm password, and the validation for these routines is handled automatically (meaning you don't need to add the compare or required validation, since Dynamic Registration requires them we do this for you ). You might consider this a benefit but in your case it probably caused the problem.

Sorry I posted this in the other forum too...

I am not seeing how to get that edit url. The tab id is 1051 and I think the module id is 148.

    Here is the error:

    A critical error has occurred.
Unable to find control id 'TBR_GUID478e4bea-5cae-4378-bc4d-57b1d7de984aName:' referenced by the 'ControlToValidate' property of 'Validate_478e4bea-5cae-4378-bc4d-57b1d7de984a'.

    Thanks,

    Will

OK I had the wrong Module ID, as Chad pointed out to me by email, reveal codes, find -> Start_Module_xxxx and where xxxx that is the number of your module ID.

So my correct url to get there was http://www.mofga.org/default.aspx?T...7&ctl=Edit

    thanks,

    Will

Hi all!  Just learned a neat trick from Chad and wanted to share a quick way to get the module ID.  All you have to know is the tab ID then run this in Host, SQL:

Select Modules.ModuleID, ModuleTitle, FriendlyName from TabModules
    Inner Join Modules on TabModules.ModuleID = Modules.ModuleID
    Inner Join ModuleDefinitions C on Modules.ModuleDefID = C.ModuleDefID
    where TabID = XXX
