Ok so I am a newbie and this is a great chance for all you to poke fun at me at my expense.
I have a Dynamic Login page that is working right now.
With that said, the standard DNN Login redirects to the dnn login page and not the dynamic login page (obviously)
I want to either change the DNN Login link or redirect the link to use the Dynamic Login page instead of the DNN login page.
Is this really as hard as I am contemplating it to be?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Rob, Hi. No problems... Please don't be afraid to ask questions, we are all newbies to the modules at one point or another (me excluded at this point ). This is covered in the documentation near the top so for more details you can check there. Basically... 1. Set the page to be hidden from the menu 2. Make sure the login page is working 3. Go to Admin, Site Settings, Advanced, and for the 'Login Page' choose the page your login module is at. This way, when the user clicks login they will be redirected to the Dynamic Login module instead of the DNN Core login module. This is also true for the 'User Page' and our Dynamic Registration module. -Chad |

In DNN 5.0 clean install, when i click on login button is still go to Standard DNN login, I even setup in admin->site setting->page management to Dynamic Login.
I post in DNN forum about this issues. I think is something to do with DNN 5.0

More then likely..... You created your custom login page but set the access to not be viewable to 'All Users'. This creates a problem as it creates an endless loop, when you click the login link it wants to redirect to the login page which in turn checks your security and sees that you need to sign in etc... At least thats one possibility. Can you successfully log in? -Chad |

The login pages with Dynamic Login modules is access to all user and is still go to Standard DNN Login. When i type TabID/122 as querystring to login page, can view while logout. When click on login button right side of menu bar and it still go to Standard DNN Login.
Have you try use this on DNN 5.0?
Regards

HI Shannon You are correct. We tried the Dynamic Login on DNN 5.0 and it wasn't redirecting either. Perhaps this is a bug with DNN 5.0 because the Dynamic Login module works on version DNN 4.9. Will have to research on the DNN 5.0 community and if they have a fix for DNN 5.0 or later. David |

Hi. Yes, we don't really control 'where' the user goes from this setting (even if its a 3rd party component we don't have the power to control that specific setting). Hopefully this will be fixed within the 05.01 patch. I know David tested the Register page and it worked properly. -Chad |

Thanks for all of your replies! I did set the setting for the login page because I thought it would be that easy. I'm glad that I was not crazy!! Does anyone have any idea when 5.01 patch will be released? This is a killer for us. Thanks again for the replies, Rob |

Hi... Well that is disappointing... Hopefully they will fix this soon, there is not a lot the module can control. Separate from the module, you really should be able set the login page to any other page within DNN, for example what if you wanted to use the standard DNN login module but just have another the test module or an image on the same page? Ill follow up with some emails to the DNN Core team this week and see if I can find out any other details. Thanks for posting the update. -Chad |

Hmm..I add standard DNN Login in same page as Dynamic Login and it work.
Look like something to do with modules (maybe add mask or something in the code) |

Shannon is right. I posted this as a DNN bug in the bug tracker, and got a reply right away that they tested it with the DNN account login module and it worked as it was supposed to. I tried it with just the DNN account login module and it worked. I also tried adding a DNN Account login module to my Dynamic Login page and then the login redirect does work. If you go into the DNN Account Login module and remove the rights for visibility then the Dynamic Login comes up as the default and works fine. I am not sure why this wont work without the DNN Account Login module on the same page, but this is definitely the work around. Thanks for all your comments, Rob |

Yes this is very weird... I am really not sure yet why its requiring the DNN Core Login module be on the page. I can easily duplicate it, just seems weird to me.

Rob, Hi. Thanks for your suggestions... I honestly think the the DNN Core code is checking to see that a standard DNN Core login module exists on the page before it will redirect the user to the page, this is probably a security precaution as if you chose the wrong page on accident you don't have a way back into your site. Well when custom modules though this is really an issue so I would consider this a bug. We will see though, for now your work around of adding the account login module to a page and setting the security/visibility to be admin only does provide a great work around. -Chad |
