I have a current installation that uses Dynamic Registration v2.2, including a fairly complex set of questions and events.

I purchased a copy of 2.4 and want to install it without having to re-create all the questions, events, logic, styles, etc. etc. etc.

What's the best way of going about that?  Should I export the settings and remove the old module first, then install the new version and import the saved settings?  Or should I just install the new version over the older version?  Or do I just have hunker down and re-enter all the settings et al?

    Thanks,

    BillB

    Glad you asked
Upgrading from 2.2 requires some custom steps however you do not need to uninstall and you should not need to reconfigure anything really. We included this upgrade notice in the 2.3 upgrade but probably need to double check to make sure its in the 2.4 release as well.

I have attached the instructions it to this post.

Thanks for the pointer, Chad. You're correct that I did not see that notice in the 2.4 materials.

    A couple follow on questions:
    1) So, from this document it appears I should install the new 2.4 module over the old one but take the steps listed in the document to remove the specific files before I attempt to run the module. Please confirm or correct that assumption.
    2) Will there be any other steps required to retain my questions and settings?
    3) Is it possible to export the questions/settings from the old module, remove/delete the old module entirely, install the new module, and import the saved questions/settings?

    Thanks again,

    BillBR

I would also like to know if it's possible to use DNN's import/export function (or KodHedz Portal Duplicator) to move the Dynamic Registration configuration from one platform (dev to QA, to staging, to production and back to QA and Dev).
