    I've used the Dynamic User Directory in a couple of cases and it's great, however now I'm wishing it did a little more ....

    I wish I could use an OR condition. I understand that this is likely targeted for a subsequent release ... in the meantime is there anyway I can bypass that and do an OR? Either directly on the DU page, or through a query string, or even by editting code in the module.

    I wish I could lose the criteria boxes ... my searches only use "contains" it seems redundant that the dropdown displays when it's the only choice.

    I wish I could define the search for multiple fields, then only display one search input box to the end user that would search all the multiple fields instead of having 2 or more search input boxes.

    I wish I could define a custom sql statement for a search .. again for use with a single search input box.

    I've checked over the product forums and the user guides .. if any of this is doable now and I've missed it somewhere, I'd be very interested to know how.

    Thanks

    Kelly

    Hi Kelly,

    We're excited when we get customer requests like these because they help us improve our products.  Some items in your wishlist are already available in Dynamic User Directory 2.5 as listed in What's New in V2.5.

    The OR option is still something we are researching.  However, you can now 'lose the search criteria boxes' by checking Hide Search Conditions in Module Configuration, Search.  You can use Input Values/SQL under Search fields to run your SQL options.

    Searching multiple fields with one search field is not a direct feature available on DUD.  However, on your Dynamic Registration, depending on your set up, you can possibly merge responses from multiple fields to a single hidden field from which you can search on your directory.

    Hope that helps.  We'll keep your comments in mind for future releases.  Thanks!

    Candace

    Oh, and you do have the option to purchase the source code if you need to.

    Well if we are asking for new features

    1. provide the ability to exclude a record if a field does not exist or is empty. When a company registers, they can provide a company logo which is displayed in a DUD on a given page. However, if they never upload an image, what you get is a 'broken image' areas in the DUD for them. It would be nice to be able to filter these out somehow.

    2. Related to #1 - I had thought about using a filter to exclude these particular records, however the filter does not allow nested logic. We already have a filter that goes something like:

    cat1 = dog OR cat2 = dog OR cat3 = dog OR cat4 = dog

    for the 'dog' listings as an example. What we would need (I think) would be a filter that says:

    logo IS NOT EMPTY AND (cat1 = dog OR cat2 = dog OR cat3 = dog OR cat4 = dog)

    Where 'logo' is the field that is possibly empty. So - is there away of expressing logic like this in DUD?

    If not, please consider adding that ability.

    I agree with Johns previous post regarding image uploads. I use the (DR) image upload element for logos as well, almost everytime I use DUD .. and the broken image issue when no file is uplaoded has been a bit of a pain. We have to go into the site every now and then and clean up those broken images by uploading a default graphic.

    For us it would work great if either:

    1.) The DUD would sense there is no image and not display the field if that is the case

    or

    2.) I could specify a default image in the settings such as a "Image not Available" graphic.

    The later would seem to be a wise option as I could also just use a 1 pixel gif if no image was uploaded .. thus creating the same effect as option 1.

    Thanks

    Kelly

    Hi Kelly;

    I am actually using a default value for the image field when the user signs up. I named it no-photo.gif and placed it in the same directory than the upload directory for images.

    Seems to work so far.
