Looking at Dynamic Forms demo 26

    http://www.datasprings.com/Products...fault.aspx

The email address field of demo 26 contains a "watermark" of "you@domain.com" which seems like an appropriate use of the watermark feature.

My issue is that if email address is a required field, it never fails "required" validation because the watermark is also seen as a default value.

Is there any way around this? Can a regex be used to check for the exact phrase "you@domain.com" and then reject the exact watermarked phrase? I think it probably can but have been unsuccessful in finding a regex that matches an entire phrase, which in my case, contains spaces.

I'm using the phrase "street city, state and zip" as a watermark in multi-line address fields so the user knows to enter the entire address in my field labeled "Address"

Any thoughts? My only other option is to remove the watermarks and use other labels outside of the entry box which would lead to clutter and a significant amount of time reformatting my forms.

Yes, you can use a regex to error trap for valid email address. There's many variations. Please check out this website:

David, my issue is NOT looking for a regex to validate email addresses, but rather working around the fact that watermarks count as values in Dynamic Forms. So if someone never entered an email address, and a watermark was present, the field is seen as having data even though the data is only the watermark.

I have been to the site you pointed out and dozens of others. I am looking for a regex to work around what I consider a bug with the Dynamic Form’s watermark feature. So I’m thinking maybe there is a regex where I can look for the exact phrase “street, city, state and zip” (which is my watermark) so I can then say if that phrase is there, no data was entered since the default required validator ignores the field if a watermark was setup.

Well, in that case I suppose you could create a regexx that's not equal to each of the phrase (street, city, state, zip).

For example, to error trap for "street":

    ^.[Street].

This will work since I just test it out on my system. Make the field required and have regexx for the default watermark values. -- David
