    I'm asking Forms 3.3.4 to hide a telephone field until the zip code field is complete.  I check hide in advanced field settings and the telephone field disappears.  I go to Question events and can't create a new event because the telephone field is not listed in the post back drop down?  What can I do to remedy this?

    HI, do you mean the "Zip Code" field is not shown in the drop down? Is the zip code field a textbox field that a user types in? If so, question events can't be triggered by textbox field, which is why you probably can't see it in the question event drop down.

    However, hidden fields can. What you need to do is this:
    1) create another "Hidden Field"
    2) in your "Client Side Method" for the zip code field, set the "Hidden Field" to equal 'TRUE'
    3) then your question event, pick the hidden field to have a response of 'TRUE' and have it unhide the telelphone field.

    I'm having trouble with that expression you sent, it's not doing anything.

    I'm also having trouble with the common expressions in the manual, none of them are working and the phone number expression keeps erroring when I'm putting in a correctly formatted phone using dashes.  801-262-9980.

    Any other good links to common expressions.  Ideally I would like to see a five digit zip code expression.

    I don't see Client Side Method but a box for Client Side Event.  Do I just type 'true' in the box?

    Hi, yes client side method means "client side event". And no, you don't type in true. You need to type in valid javascript syntax. Something like this:

    if ($(ZipCode).length > 4))
    {$(HiddenField) = ' TRUE' }
    else
    {$(HiddenField) = 'FALSE'};

    As for the regex expression to error trap for five digit zip codes, etc. what I sent you should work. Did you test it by typing in 4 digits and see if it returns an error? You need to make sure you have client side validation on under Module Configuration. Also make sure regex validation is turned on for that field and that you have display error summary message as well. -- David
