I just upgraded to the latest patch (3.361) and noticed something that had not happened before the upgrade.  I had a read-only text field with a default value displaying  the price of a training course. The field was set under Advanced Setting to be hidden until forced visible by another event.  Prior to the upgrade, this worked fine.  Post-upgrade though, when the field is forced visible by the question event, it comes up, it's blank.  If I un-check the Advanced Option to hide until forced visible - so that the field is fully visible, the value re-appears.

Since I'm not doing any calculations on that field, I was able to changed it to a html field and keep going - but it would be nice to be able to have the textbox back again.

Hi.  Sometimes you need to hit Update Settings in Module Configuration after an update.  Can you please try that and see if it makes a difference?  You may also have to hit Update again on your question event.  Thanks!

HI, also, you could also check under module configuration / initial javascript to make sure you have your client side javascript on page load as well. -- David

     David,

Forgive me - I'm not sure what you mean - I'm probably looking for the wrong thing but I don't see anything to load the client side javascript.  The standard javascript file is there, the initial javascript box is empty as always.

Just FYI, I just added another text box - created a default value, set it to hide until opened by a question, added it to a question and the default value didn't show when I fired that question.

HI, are you certain that before the upgrade, that default value on a field that is hidden until triggered by a question event shows the default value? What version of DF was that?

Based on my experience and what I noticed before, default values are only good on page load and will not retain their value on a page postback / triggered by a question event. -- David

Yes, they did - what would happen was that I had a list of courses people could sign up for. 2 of those courses required payment so I created a question event to open the payment piece. The first field in that block was the price - as the default value in a read-only text box.

I don't think it's the event firing that is killing the default - because when I would uncheck the option to hide the question until open by an event, the value would stay put - no matter now many times I set off question events. But when I hit that checkbox, the default value went away.

It's a moot point now as I just created an HTML field with the price and styled it to look like it was a field in the form - but was just curious at this point...
