I have a large website with multiple authors in which there are a few people who have the admin role for the site. I have the only host account. Is there a way that I can prevent an admin user from editing my complicated DF forms? |

Hello Whetstone,
Unfortunately there is not a way to accomplish this in DNN.
If you have any other questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Ryan

Thanks Ryan, hey, I had a similar question a couple of months ago and had an answer that might apply. The problem is I can't find my notes on that. I had asked Chad that if I were to sell a finished form to another party, and of course, install Dynamic Forms on their site for them and then install my custom form, could I prevent the customer from editing the form? He had a technique that he shared with me that did something close to that. I just can't find that forum post or email where we discussed that. Would you mind terribly running this past Chad? Maybe he will remember. I apologize that I don't have better notes. |

Hi. I can't actually recall what I posted but if it was in the forums you should be able to search for topics you have written... Off hand I can't think of a direct way of not allowing them to change things, you are referring to the questions themselves or the actual form results? -Chad |

I am referring to the questions, form design, completion events etc. I am not referring to the form results. |

I have had a recent idea that I could put the forms in a sub-portal and the rest of the webiste content in the main portal. Since I usually retain the only login for the host account, I think that might work. What do you think? |

Hi. Yep, that should work... Not really sure I know another way around it since multiple users have admin access. -Chad |

Now I need your recommendation for getting this done please. I want to put the DF Form on a sub portal where the users are not admins in order to keep them out of the form design. But since my forms are reserved for managers only, they will be visible only to a "Manager" role on the child portal. The user will be logged in to the parent portal with their usernames, When they navigate to my form which is on a sub portal, they will need to be automatically-programmaticly logged in on the child portal - but with different roles. eg. manager role but not admin role. I know that DF can put a user into a role. Can it also log them into a child-portal? Would your Dynamic Login module do what I need here? |

Hi. Well this can depend on a few scenerios.... 1. Is the child portal on the same domain? In other words is it like www.portal.com/child or is it child.portal.com? If its www.portal.com/child then as long as the user has access to the portal it should allow them to move around between portals. 2. Once the user is active in the userportals and userroles tables, then if you navigate between www.portal.com and www.portal.com/child then you should be able to not be forced to sign in. 3. There are two ways to make the user active in the portals. You can insert data into the userroles and userportals tables directly via a Dynamic Forms SQL Completion Event and you can also force them to sign in the first time on Dynamic Login with SSO enabled on Dynamic Login. After they are signed in with the correct username/password that matches with the parent portal then any time after that it should work if they are already signed in as the parent. Dynamic Login is already setup the 'Sync' user roles and skip any role called 'Administrator' so hopefully it should already work out for you. Thanks! -Chad |

Chad - I was not aware of your comment #2 above. That is good information to know. Thank you sincerely for your help on this and all the other questions I have posted here. Obviously, I'm using Dynamic Forms for quite a few things on my sites. |
