I'm a new Dynamic Forms and Views user and I'm having a problem with a particular scenario.  I've configured a form to be single-submission because the form results constitute a 'master record' for each user.  On a separate page, I've configured a Dynamic Views instance so show the user's form results and enable them to edit their own form.

The issue I'm experiencing is that even though the [DynamicFormsEditLink] token in the Dynamic Views view successfully redirects the user to the form edit page, Dynamic Forms is displaying the 'You've already submitted a form' message rather than allowing them to edit their existing form data.

I've toggled a number of seemingly related Dynamic Forms switches to no avail.  However, If I deselect the Only allow form submission once per user checkbox, then the Dynamic Views redirect works as expected, displaying the user's current form state and enabling them to update.  The obvious problem with this is that it does not enforce the 'master record' requirement, which is critical for our project.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks.

    Hi Bryan,

I see what you are saying... Unfortunately I am not sure about the best way round this... At the current time the feature you are using to allow the user to display the submission is limited to initially allowing them the ability to insert the data and then also ever allowing them to come back to enter the data. This feature is also limited per browser and this is because its based on a cookie. So if you need to make something "Extra" secure where if they cleared their cookies they could enter the data again, then you might also consider another option or work around.

We might be able to add the feature in the module where if the user is coming into "Edit" mode then it can ignore this cookie... That might be one feature we could implement, I see how this would be helpful (just not something that has come up before but I can see how we could modify this easily).

There are other methods and ways of doing this though using things such as SQL Validation and SQL Events. You can insert a record into a flat table such as "LastTimeUserSubmitted" and then run SQL Validation to verify the user is not supposed to add any new items at the time... We do this right now for our contest tables, where you can only vote on a single entry every 24 hours.

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Hi Chad,

Thanks for the response, and I'm glad I wasn't just missing something obvious.

I do think that some logic to ignore the cookie when navigating to the form using the Edit path makes a lot of sense, and would provide a reasonable short-term solution to the requirement.  Ideally, some feature on the product roadmap that provides a way to configure submission tracking without the use of cookies would be great (maybe the ability to associate with a profile property on the user record that just flips a bit for a particular form instance?).

I'll see what I can put together on the SQL front and let you know how it goes.

    Regards,
    Bryan
