I'm trying to use parameter tokens in the Subject line of an Email Form Completion Event, but they are not being replaced. If I use them in the message Body, they work fine.

The text above the parameters list box says you can "include these parameters below in your email to, subject, or email message".

    Am I missing something simple?

    Hi Mac,

Yes, you should be able to use tokens like $(FirstName) in the subject line. Let me ask you a few things:

    1. What is your exact module version?
    2. What is your DNN version?
    3. What is the token you're trying to use? -- is it a textbox or another field type?
    4. When you say they are not being replaced, do you mean the email shows the $(Token) or is it blank?
    5. I think there are issues if it's the first thing on the subject line. Can you please test by having at least 1 character in the subject line before the token? For example, instead of

    $(FirstName), here's your form resutls!

    you say,

    Here's your form resutls, $(FirstName)!

    Thanks,
    Candace

    1. 4.10.0.27988
    2. 6.1.4
    3. Currently trying $(PortalAlias), but tried a ComboBox value before
    4. Email shows the $(Token), i.e. "Contact From $(PortalAlias)"
    5. I've tried it by itself, and with value in front of it; doesn't work either way.

    Hi Mac,

Sorry for the late response here... This is one of those items that we needed to review the source code. We have setup all fields within the form to work with the subject property of email events, however some tokens have never been coded for all areas (such as email to, email from, email subject etc...). Mostly because these requests have never come up before.

So... For example, $(PortalAlias) is not currently a token that is available for email subjects, only the email message. There are a few others as well such as $(UniqueCompletionID), $(ViewLink), $(CurrentURL), etc... I have added this to the list for the next release/version but for now you might consider setting the default value on a hidden field (a hidden field type, not actually hidden by role or anything) and that token should work. If you can't get any $(ShortFieldNameTokens) to work within the module then please open up a support ticket and provide us with temporary edit rights to the module so that we can review this further.

    Thanks!

    -Chad

I'm trying to setup the token in a hidden field, but I apparently don't know how. Do I need to be pulling it from the database, or something?

    Hi Mac,

A couple options here... You can first get everything working as a text box field, and then later change this as a hidden field once you have it working. You might try and use SQL Default value and try this out:

    Select '$(PortalAlias)' as DefaultValue

That should work because I verified in the code the $(PortalAlias) and $(PortalID) and so forth are already SQL tokens that get replaced within SQL defaults.

    Thanks!

That did it. I had everything but the single quotes around the token.

    Thanks, Chad.
