    Hi,
I see in another forum posat here that Dynamic User Directory now supports custom profile fields. However I am unable to get them to work.

    Here's what I did:

    1. Created a new profile field called "title" via DNN manage profile properties
    2. Created a new user role (this role appears in the module configuration - so that part works fine)
    3. Added a user to this role
    4. Edited the user's profile, filling in the title field

According to my understanding of this posting: http://www.datasprings.com/Products...fault.aspx
the field should now be shown as a token on the directory template page, e.g,, [title] should be there with the other tokens, but it doesn't show up.

    Quote from posting above:
"So, it should be as easy as using your extended fields name as parameters and you should actually see those additional extended fields within the list towards the left of the template. If you don't let us know and we can look into this further."

I tried using the [title] token anyway but it is ignored by the module (just shows up as plain text, e.g., shows up as "[title]")

Currently I am using the trial version to evaluate this module before I purchase it.

So far I like what I see but it is absolutely critical that I be able to use custom profile fields with it.

I need to decide on a module very quickly so please let me know if my methods aren't correct or if perhaps custom profile fields aren't available in the trial version.

Thank you fin advance for your prompt response.

HI Alen, did you make sure that the profile property "title" is set to visible under "manage profile properties"? I just set up a test case on www.betasprings.com (username: host, password: dnnhost) and added the "title" property and then a DUD page (http://www.betasprings.com/UserDire...ault.aspx) and can see [title] on the left side just fine. -- David

Wow! Now that's customer service - thank you for your very prompt rely.

You got me: I did not have it set to visible. I have done so and it now works great.

One last question: I don't see any reason there would be but just to confirm, there's no limit to the number of custom profile fields I can have, is that correct?

I don't know if there's a limit in DNN other than the size of your database / memory which your hosting provider allocates. Of course if you have a couple hundred thousand profile property, I'm sure it will bog your system down to a crawl just retrieving all the rows/columns from that sql table. -- David

    Thanks David!

Based on your repsonse, I see no isssues - I'm only talking about 10-15 or so custom fields but it's nice to know it's only limited by DNN and/or hosting environment itself
