I upgraded my site from 4.8.4 to 5.1.1 and then to 5.1.2. The latest version of DNN breaks out several of the admin functions into stand alone installable modules. I was curious about these new modules and added one to a page in my site (Users and Roles) and as soon as I click add module, the page is redirected to my dynamic registration page and the original page is now hard linked to the dr page. No matter what page I add the user and roles module to it immediately redirects to my dynamic registration page with the same result that the original page is now hard linked to the dynamic registration page. I haven't tested adding any of the other admin modules to a page but am curious if this is a bug either with the DR module or the new implementation of the admin modules in the latest release of DNN. I can't imagine this is the way it's suppose to work.

    Any insight appreciated,

    Paul

ok...I tested the other admin modules by adding them to a page and they work fine but each time I add the Users & Roles module the page is redirected to my DR page.

Hi, if you go to Admin / Site Settings and scroll to Advanced Settings / Page Management, what do you have set for: User Registration/Profile Page? -- David

It is set to my DR registration page which I think is the way it always has been since I installed the module. I have my registration set to none with no registration user control anywhere on my site as I have several registration scenarios and each registrant is provided a link according to the type of registration scenario they choose. I have 2 pages that I added the User and Roles module to and they appear to be unrecoverable as they now act only as a link to my DR page.

Can anyone test and confirm? Both my dev and production site have the same behavior.

Still looking for some direction here. Should I post this over on the DNN forums? Still not sure if the problem is caused by DNN 5+ or Dynamic Registration. Once again, if I create a new page and add the Users & Roles module to the page, it always redirects the page to my DR page and the newly created page is then hard linked to the DR page. There's really no need for me to add the module to a page, I can still access users and then roles through the admin functions. Still, the behavior is strange to say the least and I may have yet to find any other ways this could effect my portal going forward. Please advise or test. I would be happy to provide a host account to my test site.

    Thanks,

    Paul

Ok...I changed the admin settings for User Profile/Registration Page from my DR reg page to None Specified and I am now able to create a new page and add the Users & Roles admin module to a page. Also, my earlier pages that I added the module to are now directing properly and I see the Users & Roles admin module on those pages where I originally added it.

So...what has changed? The user profile/reg page has always been set to my custom DR page since I installed and configured the module. I have no registration user controls in my skins as I only provide links via urls to various registration pages within my siite. If I have need to add a registration user control to a skin in the future and need it to direct to a custom registration page, wouldn't I then have to set the user profile/regitration page to this custom page and hence wouldn't the issue return?

Have I misunderstood from the beginning the way the DR modue should be configured with the admin user profile/reg settings?

I am understanding a little more about this. My core user profile fields are mapped between the DR module and the core dnn user profile module. When you add the new users and roles module, it contains the dnn user profile component and most of these fields are mapped to my DR module so I guess this is what causes the redirect. I have removed all instances of the users & roles module and set my user profile/reg page back to my DR page in Site Settings. Like I said, I came across this by accident and really have no need of this new admin module although some might as it consolidates a lot of user management functionality into one page.
