Happy New Year everyone!
I wanted to start the new year off with a very public THANK YOU to Mandeeps for creating such a great blog module (Live Blogs) and also for providing us with the quality and support for installing and implementing the module (including converting our previous blogs over from NukePress, how is that for service!).
I have always liked the Mandeeps modules and this is another module that I think will be very popular… Our modules (especially modules such as Dynamic Forms and Dynamic Registration) always integrate with with Mandeeps Live Content and Live Tabs so I was already familiar with the interface and flexibility that Live Blogs would have.
Major Perks for me?
After installing and setting up the module I was very happy to learn that a few of the major features I was looking for in a blog module are built directly into the module. I should note that there are MANY great features and these were just specifically a small list of items I found the most useful for things I was looking for. These include:
- Friendly URL Provider including the ability to customize your friendly URL yourself for each post (and plays well with Ifinity URL Master)
- Great Comments Interface with Re-CAPTCHA support
- Remote Publishing (this is the best!) via MetaWeblog API providers such as Microsoft Live Writer. I am writing this blog post via Live Writer and this makes things much easier… No need to always sign in each time, navigate into the website, etc… If you have not used Live Writer in the past you should download it, the interface is similar to using Microsoft Word and as you publish blogs you can simply insert the picture, hyperlinks, and other popular features that you might find in Microsoft Word directly built in. I took a screenshot just now and you can see! I have downloaded a few applications for my Mac as well that have not yet work but I have been working with Mandeep on trying to find the reason… each of them has their own limitations but part of the problem here is that there really isn’t a very good Blog Writing application for Mac that I found as easy to easy as Live Writer.
So… Again, thank you Mandeeps! I have been a big fan of your modules for some time, especially because there are only a few quality vendors out there that provide the type of support and quality modules such as yours (well we like to think we are in that list too 
). Great to see a blog module that brings DNN up to speed with other CMS products such as Joomla and Drupal too… Live Blogs can for sure compete with those platforms now when it comes to blogging.
