    Hello.

One of my completion events is to send an e-mail to an applicant and providing them with a link to their submitted application using $(EditLink) to give them the chance to modify any info on their submitted application.

I also have another SQL completion event which saves the data to my defined table.

The problem with using the $(EditLink) now is that the data is saved to your default table but not to my defined table.

When an applicant clicks on the Submit button initially, I check to make sure that the data is saved to both tables (yours and mine) and it is.

What can I use now in my e-mail completion event to give the applicant access to their submitted application?

Hi, if the DF form fields are saved to your particular defined SQL table, do you have the USERID and perhaps some other primary key (UniqueCompletionID) saved to this table when user submits as well? If so, you could use SQL binding with the DSParam1 variable to retrieve data from that SQL table when user logs back in to view that same page URL. However, SQL binding only works for one row of data so if a user submits more than one form and hence has multiple entries in the table, then you will need to use a reporting program such as Indoogrid or Open Web Studio to retrieve info for editing / deleting, etc. You can check out some Indoogrid / OWS demo at: www.datasprings.com/formdemos

Any further questions, feel free to respond. -- David

    Thank you.

As far as DSParam1 is concerned, do I default it to DynamicForms_ResultsID or UniqueCompletionID?

In your example (Demo 14), you defaulted your DSParam1 to PhonebookID. I am not using any kind of auto-generated number for my SQL table. I am using IndooGrid to display the results (many forms from the same applicant). So, when a user edits a particular record, I need to include in the URL when defining it in the setting, for the selected record, and DSParam1 is used as a parameter. Second question is what's the best way to determine this URL that I need to pass in the setting?

Do you have a primary key in your SQL table? You must have one to prevent duplication of roles. Use that as the DSParam1 comparison for editing / deleting. The URL would be back to your Dynamic Forms page where you will use to edit / delete based on the querystring being passed. You should create a stored procedure that checks if it's in update or delete mode. Can do this with querystring variable. -- David

Can't I use the UniqueCompletionID? And if so, do I create another field (integer) and default it to UniqueCompletionID? The reason why is because when I'm in IndooGrid and define UniqueCompletionID as my unique key, it doesn't allow it. It gives a message that it's not an integer type.

I'm sending you a screen print of the error in IndooGrid in a separate e-mail since I didn't know how to attach it here.

Hi, UniqueCompletionID is the datatype "uniqueidentifier", not an integer and yes, you can do this. -- David

But then when you use IndooGrid, it doesn't let you use UniqueCompletionID as your unique key. As I mentioned in my previous reply, I sent you the image of the error I got in IndooGrid on a separate e-mail.

What IndooGrid recommends to use as the unique key is DynamicForms_ResultsID.  If this is the case then the SQL statements that are generated when using "Assistance Links" (for Update and Delete) need to be modified because both use "where UniqueCompletionID = DSParam1".

It's funny because I initiated that forum. Shall we close this and just keep the other open. Or, is that what you meant maybe by referring me to it?

I don't know if I get those. How about clicking on Contact Us and sending it there referencing the forum and noting for me to look at it? Thanks. -- David
