I need to confirm the user's entry of the email address, so I've:
    * created a field for "Confirm Email Address",
    * enabled "Compare Validator",
    * set the "Compare field" to Email Address,
    * enter some kind of message for "Compare Validation Text"; the message: Please enter the same values for both fields
    * enter some kind of error message for "Compare Validation Error"; the message: Error matching your email address above

When I test the form, I keep getting stuck on this compare validation . . .

    * I get the error message "Please enter the same values for both fields" right next to the "Confirm Email Address" field,
    * I get the validation summary message "Error matching your email address above" appearing at the top of the form,

. . . even though I've copy-n-paste the email address onto the "Confirm Email Address" field.

So what am I doing wrong in setting up this question validation? Or is there a bug in this functionality?

    Thanks for your anticipated reply.

I've discovered the reason for my Compare Validation problem . . .

I've found that, for some reason, the "Email Address" field contains the same result as the "Country" field even though at the time of data entry, different data from the "Country" field is entered into the "Email Address" field. Therefore, when it comes time for the comparison, the result is understandably always false.

    Now this begets a different question . . .
Why does the "Email Address" field keep picking up the data for (or in) the "Country" field? I've triple-checked that I have selected "Email Address" for the "DotNetNuke User Default" setting. Should I have other settings configured for this to work?

    Thanks for any ideas.

    Jenn,

Hi. What version of Dynamic Forms is this and what version of DNN? We either already have a fix for this or its a version of DNN in which the extended fields are very different (like 4.2 or something). I just tested this on http://www.betasprings.com/FormsTes...ault.aspx)

    Thanks for stepping in, Chad.

We are working with Dynamic Forms version 02.30.20 and DNN 4.4.1.

I have tried creating a 2nd question, "Email Address 2", and it does pick up the correct email info entered at data entry time (while "Email Address" continues to pick up "Country" data). Nonetheless, as soon as I delete "Email Address" and rename "Email Address 2" to "Email Address", the newly renamed "Email Address" picks up "Country" data again. (And I am not linking any of the "Email Address" questions to any DNN User Default at all.)

You mentioned that your testing on betasprings.com seemed to work, but did you test with 2 entries of the "Email Address", one (the latter one) being labelled "Confirm Email Address"?

I ran another test this morning, duplicated the form with only one "Email Address" question. And this time the "Email Address" field picked up the correct email info entered. But as soon as I added another email question (duplicating it by using the "Clone Question" option to clone the working "Email Address" so that there should be no doubt in any other incidental mistyping; renamed the cloned question to "Confirm Email Address"), the formerly working "Email Address" now picks up the "Country" data and the "Confirm Email Address" picks up the appropriate email info.

Do you have any idea about this?

    Thanks!

    Voodoo!!!!

I still can't seem to duplicate it adding two. I added two fields which pull in the email address from this page:
    http://www.betasprings.com/FormsTes...fault.aspx

If you can duplicate it on the betasprings.com site (or anyone can?) this will really help us in debugging and getting a fix out. I just checked the code and can't directly see anything related to country that would work differently. Like, does it work until you re-save the question (don't think so I just tried that), does it work until you add a validator, etc... I can't seem to find anything in the code that would work differently specific to the email field but just thinking of some ideas to help test.

Got it! There's a patch whic upgrades to Dynamic Forms 2.3.5

Thanks to Datapsings I was able to install the patch.

To find the patch on Snowcovered, go to HelpDesk and click on Patches & Hotfixes (probably must be logged in first...)
