how do you use a querstring item in a sql statement?

    i have a page that passes a data item to another page via the querystring.

    isn't there some way to use that querystring item in my initial sql statement?

    all i'm trying to do is this:

    have a user select a product from a drop down. then they hit "submit" and it sends the product id to the second page where i want to use it to populate the details of the product.

    Yes. For these types of implementations you need to use the querystring variables DSParam1, DSParam2, or DSParam3. This is because these tokens are passed and used for additional security precautions towards SQL Injection. You should check out demo 14 and 21 at http://www.datasprings.com/formdemos for examples of this.
