I've tried searching but am probably just missing the obvious.  I have 3 radio buttons followed by an empty select list.  I want to select a radio button and pass the value from that button to the SQL in the select list, run the query and create a list based on that value.

I have a vague idea of how it will work but would appreciated some help just the same.

    Thanks!!

HI, I know depdendent drop down listbox works fine. See our Form Demo 11 here for this matter. I have never had anyone asked about a dependent combo based on a selected radio button field and listbox/combobox combination though.

What you can try is the same exact method as the demo 11. Have the combobox be hidden until triggered by a question event. Also have it SQL driven default using basic SQL "select" statement such as:

select columnname as defaultvalue from tablename where targetcolumn = '$(radiobuttonshortname)

Then create a question event based on the radio button question (trigger for any response) to unhide the combobox. See if this will work for you. -- David

Yes - I saw that and actually wound up using it. The new problem is that in admin mode, it works great but as a normal user, when I select a value in the first combo box, it doesn't do anything in the second.

Using the Chrome Javascript console, I see I'm getting an error that says:

Uncaught Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500

I thought it might be a permissions issue but it does populate the second box but an subsequent selections won't work.

Any ideas about this - searching the forum doesn't help too much?

    Thanks.

HI, are you saying that your dependent drop down lists works only the first time but not after you go back and pick another entry from the first list? Can you use the Contact Us on the left pane, email us referencing this forum, we can respond and you can attach screenshots of your settings for the dependent drop down list and question event. Thanks. -- David
