The documentation manual link is still for 3.3 and not 3.5  I am interested in understanding how the automatic login works.  new features listed are as follows:

    Now supports automatic login
    – Allow automatic user login simply by passing the appropriate form or querystring variable. Great for integration with other systems

Does this mean that you can send a query string from an email for instance that would log the user directly into DNN?  Are the passwords masked or encoded somehow or visible in the URL?

Hi... Sorry, we are still working to get the updated user guide out as the release is just going out this week.

The automatic login currently functions if you pass a parameter called autosignin=true to the page. At this time you would need to pass username and password and these are not encoded, I guess we really don't know a way that is 'universal' to encode them. I do know that we do something that allows for this and encrypted if using the 'Auto Sign In' link that comes with Dynamic Registration but that is an encrypted link that then logs the user in directly by clicking the link and might be a better way to go.

We primarily did this for some other enhancements with clients that were passing more 'form' variables instead of along a querystring for an email or something... Then you can have the textbox masked for passwords and pass the data via a form post.

If you pass the field parameters via a form post and not actually the URL/querystring you need to pass one additional property called 'signintype' and this needs to be set to "Form".

    Thanks,

    Chad

Thanks for the response. I want to make sure I understand this as I already own Dynamic Registration. Does the Dynamic Login module work in conjunction with a feature in Dynamic Registration called 'Auto Sign In' to allow for a non-visible or encoded login? If so I don't see the feature in the Dynamic Registration module. Thanks for your help

Hi. This is separate from Dynamic Login and the approve/authenticate link is encrypted...

Please review this page 128 in the user guide:
    http://www.datasprings.comuserguide...rGuide.pdf

This message is used with the following new tokens and features within Dynamic Email Events.
    • $(AutoApprove) – utilize this token within email events for the user to click on and it will
auto approve their account without further action. Similar to verification codes, this link is a
secure link that will approve the user without having to take additional steps to verify their
account such as logging in with a verification code.
    • $(AutoApproveLink) – similar to $(AutoApprove) token however this token is the full URL
so you could make the hyperlink an image or choose your own hyperlink text within the
    email event directly.
    • $(AutoApproveWLogin) – Similar to the Auto Approve token however this token will also
sign the user into the portal automatically.
    • $(AutoApproveWLoginLink) – similar to $(AutoApproveWLoginLink) token however this
token is the full URL so you could make

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Hi,

I just came across this thread and wanted to follow up on this... Yes, the auto sign in works by passing three variables to the login module. AutoSignIn with a value of True and then a username and a password variable via the querystring.

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Chad,

What about other Query String Parameters that may be being passed along with AutoSignIn, username, and password. They seem to get lost when the module redirects to another page. Any way to keep them and remove the Dynamic Login Parameters. Also the option to Keep user on the same page as Dynamic Login doesn't seem to work if you are trying to log in. I'm using v3.50.10.

    Example: http://www.domain.com/sample.aspx?A...portID=115

After it logs in the user when it redirects to the same page or any other page it should look like this:

    http://www.domain.com/sample.aspx?reportID=115

That way parameters that the other modules on the page need can still be passed along.

    Thanks,
    JNagy
