    Hi there,
I've been plau=ying with this module a bit and want to use it to replace the DNN login.  the problem is that once logged in, the Dynamic Login module doesnt seem to have tokens for "UserDetails" and "LogOut".  This means that i need to keep the DNN Login tokens as part of the skin.

Is there any way that i can use just the dynamic Login module without the need for the DNN login & DNN User tokens.

    cheers
    John

actually, its just the logout button i'm after. Just remembered that the user details button is a separate DNN token that only appears once a user is logged in.. assuming its part of the skin object.

So yes, would be great to provide a logout token.

Hi John - This is a feature we can review adding into future updates or reviews. Maybe a 'template' that can include a logout button or other user credentials / information if the user is already signed in.

The good news is that you can already do this with a few simple steps.
    1. Set the Dynamic Login to be visible to 'Unauthenticated Users Only'
    2. Setup a standard Text/HTML module or a Tailored Text/HTML module with a link to the logoff button (I think its site.com/admin/security/signoff.aspx) or other user details (if you want to display other user details you might also check out Tailored Text which has more options for this). Set this module under module security to be set to 'Visible to authenticated users only'.

Basically if you do this then you should end up with the results that you want... When the user signs in the login page won't be displayed and when the user signs in the text module with the logout link will be displayed.

    Thanks!

it all sounds like too much work!!. With the Standard Text/HTML module there is no "authenticated" user role. Do you mean "registered users" role?

So when are these changes being implemented in dynamic login. I find it a bit odd that your module does not already do this. You can get in but you cant get out??? Whats the logic here?

Hi... I guess I do mean Registered users.

Typically if we wanted something like this to be displayed for only authenticated users we would choose to have Dynamic Login setup to be displayed to the 'Unauthenticated Users' and then a text/html module to be displayed to 'authenticated users'. There are many implementations outside of this specific one where this is useful but basically all users would typically have the Registered Users role so that is correct.

I do think this would be a powerful enhancement but it really has not come up much as a request... I think mostly because users would typically not logout without a module... typically they would log out of the system by clicking on the logout link (this would apply for most sites that I know of and also common ones such as datasprings.com, dotnetnuke.com, etc... I can't really think of many implementations where the logout feature was in the module and not the skin but regardless I think it would be a powerful enhancement for future updates and thank you for your feedback.

The first thing the user said to me when i showed them was "Why are there 2 login links".

The DNN Login link turns into a logout link when the user is logged in so i cant remove the dnn login skin object cause dynamic login doesnt provide logout functionality. Most users probably wouldnt care once they were used to it but my client mentioned it immediately and i agreed with them that dynamic login should have provided the functionality.

I dont want to start hacking a site with more unnecessary modules just to get login/logout functioning.

    cheers

Hi John - Well typically there would not be two login links, only one. Do you have it specified under admin, site settings that the 'Login Page' is the page where your Dynamic Login module is at? For example, if you click Login from datasprings.com it takes you to the logout page, and then when you click log out it would then log you out.

So, I guess if you are not wanting to use the login skin object I understand why you need/want this feature however if you are using the login skin object you would want to setup the login page to be the page that Dynamic Login is at.
