I have a form that tracks overdue accounts. Besides the client information, we need to have an area to enter payments made to the account and a balance. A Data Grid would work perfect for this as they can enter the payment data and amount and save it. But, how is the data stored? To me, it seems it would need to be in a separate table with a reference ID pointer to the form entered so that the payments stay with the client info. Does anyone know how that is supposed to work and how to make data grid entries work with a submit or update query?

Hi Mike...I have something of the same issue, but being able for the user to update a previously saved data grid entry.

I'm not sure how the data is stored in the internal Dynamic Forms table; the solution I'm working on uses an external SQL database table much as in Demonstrations #14 and #21.  In this table, the data grid entry is stored as an html snippet complete with headers and values.  Of course, you can view the html in the internal Dynamic Forms table by accessing Advanced Features, View Form Results, View Results.  Part of my solution consumes the html snippet for the table values outside of the Dynamic Forms module.

I'm hoping that DataSprings will complete a version upgrade whereby data grids are presented, when opening up a saved form, with an editable data grid of the previously entered data.  It should be an easy upgrade if all that is saved and presented is the html snippet representing the populated data grid.  Until this is accomplished, the Data Grid question type will have limited utility.
