I am running Opt-In email version 4.3.6.18552 on DotNetNuke 5.06.02 and I can no longer edit messages, edit drafts, look at the logs of messages I've previously sent or even create new messages. Basically I'm dead in the water.
I have a couple of events that look a bit suspicious being posted to the event logs in DotnetNuke:

The module is still taking new registrations and I can navigate around in the control panel, but when I try to read or edit a message or create a new one, those little square progress dots that you guys use to signify action occurring start to scroll, then the screen looks like it's about to pop up, but then nothing happens.

Hi Barry,
Not sure yet what this is but it sounds like it is related to the Chilka.dll in the bounceback feature. First thing I will ask is that you get the most recent patch which is Opt IN Email 4.3.71 and see if it behaves the same way.
You should find this in your Snowcovered account under Patches and Hotfixes (or in MyDownloads, if you have the Collection 4.0). Please let us know what happens. Thanks!

Hi Barry,
I checked with a senior support analyst here at DataSprings and it appears that from these error logs this is actually related to the bounceback control problems you are having and not necessarily the module.
It sounds like a JavaScript issue so can you please have load up FireBug console app and see if it shows any JavaScript errors there?

JavaScript errors are all occurring in Mozilla Firefox 3.6.x, and Mozilla Firefox 4 and Internet Explorer 8 and 9 and Chrome, and also on three different machines? Seems.....unlikely. And I don't understand how or why bounceback control problems would prevent me from editing or even viewing a draft email. That also seems unlikely. I've got Firebug installed, there are no Javascript errors reported. |

Well, poking around based on the feedback above and I shut OFF the bounceback controls and I am now able to create new emails. I still can't edit drafts or view reports of previously sent messages, but at least I can create a new one. So, I'm only half dead in the water now  |

Well, so much for that. It let me create the email message, but when I went to send it, it threw this error message: A critical error has occurred.
Violation
of PRIMARY KEY constraint
'PK_DataSprings_OptInEmailScheduledNewsletter'. Cannot insert duplicate
key in object 'dbo.DataSprings_OptInEmailScheduledNewsletter'.
The statement has been terminated.
And it sent nothing.
The timing of this could not possibly be worse, my band is releasing their album this coming week. This newsletter was how we were going to send special instructions to members of our website for pre-ordering.....

So, no ideas folks? Bounceback errors are now gone, in fact, no errors are being posted to the event viewer at all. I still cannot read or edit any previous newsletters. The module is effectively useless, with the exception that it seems to still allow users to sign up. The error in the above post still gets thrown when I try to send an email. |

Hi, just now I've also started getting this
A critical error has occurred.

Now cannot send any newsletters.
I created the latest newsletter from an existing one as I always do. Clicked on "Schedule immediately", and then error.
Any ideas?

Barry – This might help you out, shortly after we found the bug that came about we did create a work around within Opt In Email to get around this for users that are not Administrators. You simply need to setup a security role called “Content Administrators” and for any users that need to be able to send out newsletters that are not administrators (and they need to see drafts etc…) just add them to that security role.
