    Hi,

    I am evaluating the Registration module (trial version 4.10.43, using DNN version 5.6.2). It seems as though the Registration module has much of the functionality I want, but I'm having trouble getting it set up correctly on my development machine (localhost) with the PayPal sandbox. I've reviewed the user guide and demos, but still no joy.

    I am trying to set up a subscription that once paid will create the user and add them to a role. I have created the role and the site registration is set to "Public".

    Unfortunately, the "Create User / Update User" and "Add to Role" events are not firing when payment gateway (PayPal) is enabled.  If I disable the payment gateway, it works as expected.

    I have done as indicated in the blog post - http://www.datasprings.com/news/blog/postid/7
    •Page and registration module are both visible to "All Users"
    •Events are set to "Any Field Response" and set to fire on "Both New/Update Registrations"
    •Role events are linked as follows:
    "Create User / Update User" - Completed (Subscription Payment)
    "Add Subscriber to Role"  - Completed (Subscription Payment)
    •"Payment Review" is set to disabled for both my sandbox seller and buyer accounts
    •My buyer account has plenty of funds in the bank account

    "Test Mode" is unchecked (under Module Configuration | Payment Gateway)

    When I test, it goes through the payment process and deducts the subscription fee from my buyer account, but when I finish and go back to my site, the user is not created and not added to the specified role.

    I have "Enabled Debug Mode" and the Event Viewer is capturing Debug Info, but unfortunately it's truncating the message so I can't see the entire return string.

    I am at a loss what to look for next. Is there anything obvious that I'm missing? Would love to get these basics working so I can test some of the other features.

    Hi Joan,

    Let me ask you a couple of questions:

    1. PayPal needs to send back posts on the payment status. Is your localhost open to receiving posts via the internet?

    2. From Admin, Event Viewer, you can track the activities related to PayPal in Debug Info. If you don't see anything here, please enable logging for Debug Info (sometimes, it only shows an * and blank. You'll need to be logged in as host to do this. Once enabled,can you please run a test again and let us know what activity is logged?

    Thanks for the reply. I enabled debugging and ran another test. The only thing I got in the Event Viewer is the same message as before.

    I'm not clear on what you mean by "Is your localhost open to receiving posts via the internet?". I have an internet connection, but the site http://cc.local is not a live domain name. This is my development site on the local drive of my laptop. I have an entry in my local hosts file that resolves cc.local (portal alias) to 127.0.0.1 (localhost). Could this setup be what's causing the problem? Is there some IIS or other log file that shows whether paypal is posting to my laptop?

    Hi,

    I've had the same problem since mid July and was wondering if you may be able to help? When the payment gateway is set to paypal, the user is able to complete the order through the Paypal, but the completion event isn't fired. When the payment gateway is deactiviated, the email sends through without an issue.

    My local host is open to receiving posts from Paypal and after checking the Debug info, there isn't any record of emails being sent at all after the registration is completed. I tested all of the different fire events, but the email only fires if the payment gateway is turned off.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!
