    Hi,
    how do i collect / use querystring parameters to include within a filter on a DV that is based over a DF instance?

    so if in the url for the page with the DV I have a querystring parameter of Userid=1, how do i filter the list to display in the DV to only display records where the UserID column is equal to 1, the value passed in as a querystring parameter?

    I'm guessing I use the filter option, but don't no how to refer to the querystring parameter in the below:


    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    This is an advanced functionality that isn't really documented in either of our User Guides(DF and DV). I would encourage you to consider attending one of our Dynamic Views Training Sessions. Typically the Advanced Features one to catch you up to speed on this concept:

    You should be able to find some suggestions or tips if you browse throughout our forums.

    That's a bit disappointing Ryan - I don't really want to shell out any more money having just spent $495 on the complete DataSprings collection.

    One of the main reasons I bought the modules was for the richer functionality available to me through DF & DV over and above the totally free DNN Form and List module - however, this key piece of functionality I want to implement is exceptionally easy within Form and List - I simply access the DNN token [Querystring: Parameter] within the list filter statement - how come it is not so easy within DV?

    I will browse the forums as you suggest, but would be grateful if you could point me in the direction of any related threads you may already be aware of that may prove useful.

    I am pleased to declare that after some deep dive searching and reading, I found enough clues and tips around the forums to work out how to do this myself, using the additional query select parameter of autosearch=true.

    Please don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the value of good training - in fact it was the comprehensive documentation, active forums and additional premium support and training options that first attracted me to the Data Springs collection in the first place - it gives me confidence that support for my software base is scalable as my business grows.

    However, I now have such a rich and diverse set of tools at my disposal through the collection, that my learning curve is exceptionally steep just getting to grips with the "standard" features through the excellent user guides and forum threads, and so I wouldn't anticipate engaging any formal training for a good while yet.

    My disappointment came from my perception that what I was trying to achieve is a fairly fundamental workflow - ie filtering a list based upon query select parameters, and that this therefore shouldn't be an advanced feature needing training out. Perhaps my perception is wrong here, I don't know, but it turns out that the solution I was looking for is rather elegant and slick, and fairly easy to implement, and is at least partially covered in the DV user guide already - perhaps this could be built upon to make this powerful functionality clearer in future releases of the guide?

    Anyhow, I'm a big fan of healthy debate and I'm certainly a massive fan of the Data Springs Collection and DNN generally, so I thank you for your time and support.
