I wanted to force password changes and periodic changes.   I reverted to the build-in login to do this.  Is there any way to for change on next login or periodic changes with this module?

    Hi Mike,

This feature will be made available on the next release.  It's being developed so that this function in Dynamic Forms will work exactly as the DNN core.

    Thanks!

Sorry, I meant we're trying to make the feature in Dynamic Login the same as the DNN Core Login function.

So I am thinking this did not make it into 3.0 because there is a place to specify which page is used for password change and the help text for this section does not seem correct:

This setting will allow the user to login using their User ID. The UserID is a number assisgned to each user created within the DNN portal and is separate from their UserName.

So what is the best practice for this for a password change? Either forced or based on expiration.
I have a portal that has been locked down and the users are required to change passwords every 30 days.

    Hi Perseverance,

Unfortunately this feature doesn’t currently exist within the module. We are researching the ability to use an HTTP Post with the option as a ‘validation’  including some settings that would check the response/response code that was returned from the post.  However, there are more design / development needed before this feature is in place. Once this has been implemented, though, more options will be available with other 3rd party shopping carts etc.  We have done this for other clients but it has to be with hard-coded responses and requires Premium Support Hours (or changing the source code).

Please fill out this form if you would like us to do the custom code for you.  Or let us know if you need to purchase the source code.  Thanks!

    Hello,

The Forced Password Change is a real issue, especially when we have to use two different URL's for users! Confusion on why they use one MAIN login URL vs. a Forced Change URL, forces us to email an explaination out. If the user has a admin forced password change and they use the standard Dynamic login, the password never gets changed and they are forced to use the password the admin emails out.

When do you see this issues being resolved?

    Thanks and best regards, Mark

    Mark,

Sorry for the late response here.  In Host, Module Definitions, can you please tell the exact Dynamic Login version you have?  Also, what DNN version are you on?  I'll check with our dev team if this has been fixed based on previous reports.  Thanks!

    Hello,

I have Dynamic Login, 3.00.00 and DNN, 04.08.02.

I am seeing the same Help msg as Perseverence, above. I too have added a page for the password change, but nothing happens.

    Thanks and best regards, Mark

    Mark,

Hi. We have been able to duplicate this with the most current released version of Dynamic Login (at least one one test site). This feature was added for the 3.0 release so that you could specify different pages when the user needed to update their profile password or their profile properties but for some reason its not always redirecting them so we are running some tests. I know it was tested during our QA process for the release but not sure if its a version difference or what exactly is happening.

Also, while we review and fix this, I should note that this feature is a work in progress after it redirects them. For example, the purpose would be to redirect them to a page using Dynamic Registration (to either update their profile or another page/instance to update their login). Technically at this point if the user were to skip out on this page they would still be able to navigate around without changing their password and be signed in etc... Within our roadmap for this feature we are planning to also have it pass some parameters to Dynamic Registration so that it would 1. not initially sign them in and 2. only sign them in after clicking update/updating their password etc... So right now the bug is that its not redirecting them to another page at all but we will be enhancing this feature down the road as well.

Hi. I have been able to find the issue and fix this for the upcoming 3.1 release (plan to release next week with many other nice features and enhancements). We will likely release a 3.0 patch specific for this issue as well. If you need a copy before the release please contact us from the contact us page.

Thank you for your help with this matter! Please let us know when version 3.1 is available, we will wait for that release and upgrade and test. What are the new features of 3.1?

    Chad,

I logged onto Snowcovered and I did not find the upgrade for 3.1 in their patches or my downloads. How can I get this, as we are trying to launch soon with this fix. Thanks mark

    Hi Mark,

Sorry about that.  We'll check into this for you.  Meanwhile, can you please send us a note using the Contact Us form so we can email you the file when we reply.  Please include your invoice ID for your current Dynamic Login.  Thanks!

    Candace,

Thanks for the 3.1, installed it and the redirect now works based on "Forced Password Change"!

We are using Dynamic Registration for our Registration page and created a new page for "Forced Password Change". The original DNN "Forced Password Change" page includes the "Current Password" text input box. How can we, through Dynamic Registration, lookup the "Current Password" and validate it prior to allowing the user to submit an updated NEW password?

If we do not include some "Current password" lookup, then any user could request a change and not have to provide a current validation of password.

I have look through Dynamic Registration to either use a SQL request for the current password, but would the password encrytion be a problem?

    How would we do this?

Thank you for your time, Mark

    Hi Mark,

Glad you got Dynamic Login 3.1.

Right now, Dynamic Registration change password works with the assumption that you have a valid password since you have to be logged in to get to this page.  At this point, there is no way to look up current password and validate but this item has just been added to our enhancement list for DR future releases.  The next DR release is tentatively set for end of Sep. (hopefully) but not sure yet if this one will make it to that release.  Thanks!

    Candace,

Thanks for the update. After reviewing what we need to do with the current version of Dynamic Login and Dynamic Registration the "Forced Password Change" will not work! The fix for redirecting in Dynamic 3.1 is really no help. Since Dynamic Registration does not currently support the “Current password” validation, then redirecting to a Dynamic Registration page makes no sense.

If you change the "Forced password" redirect in Dynamic Login to the DNN login page that handles it normally, it will not work, as you have to login using Dynamic Login and current password or emailed password, once logged in, then the DNN login page will not show the "Forced Update" mode of that page.

The only way we have found that at least works for now is to update the "Language settings" for the email "Resource Name: EMAIL_PASSWORD_REMINDER_BODY.Text" to show the old Login page. There the user can login with the Current or emailed password and then go thought the process to change the password.

Please let me know if the full "Forced Password" with Dynamic Login and Registration gets to working. In the mean time I will use the work around.

    Thanks Mark

    Hi guys

We are using DL 3.0 and need the force password function to work. We don't want to install Dynamic Registration and just want the user to be sent to the default DNN force password change process.

Will an upgrade to 3.1 fix this?

    thanks

    Gus

    Hi

I upgraded to DL 3.1 and was hoping this would fix the force password issue. i.e. we are NOT using dynamic registration and don't need it. We just need the DL module to send the user to the DNN force password page if no redirect is set up. But the latest version does not work. If the force password flag is set the user logs in as normal.

Can we do this somehow? Or are we forced to use Dynamic Registration?
This is rather important so some help would be really useful soon.

    thanks
    Gus

I ended up using Dynamic Reg and creating a password change page and redirecting to this from Dynamic Login. Did the job sort of, however I now have a problem with the password field validation which I will create another thread for.
