Trying to use the form, to allow people to submit a file (word document), but when I look in the 'DynamicForms_Uploads' folder the file is not there.

    Please assist.

    Leonard,

Hi. I think we exchanged emails earlier but I don't remember hearing back yet. I think you said you were running on the 2.5 release? Are you still running into this problem?

Also, does this folder exist in your portals home directory? Such as /portals/0/Dynamic-Forms_Uploads/

Just a follow up to this... Leonard was running on 2.5.1 and apparently this was a bug in that release. He upgraded to the 2.5.5 (the latest release for the 2.5 build) and this appears to have fixed the issue.

Hi. Please open a support ticket and we will make sure we get you this updated patch for the 2.5 release. You can either contact us on datasprings.com or open up a Snowcovered support ticket. Just let us know your orderID either way.

Thanks for your help. Uploaded files can now be found in dynamicforms_uploads folder.

However, clicking on the file link in View form results page shows file can not be found page. Any hint will be helpful. thanks.

I'm using Dynamic Forms 3.0.31 on DotNetNuke 05.04.02 and I receive the same error.

When I tried to upload a file, the folder DynamicForms_Uploads was created, but doesn't contain anything.

    Please advise.

    Hi DNN Guy,

DNN 5.4 is a very new release and there are some issues with Dynamic Forms 3.0 and 3.1.  I would recommend upgrading to  Dynamic Forms 3.3 to get all the new enhancements and compatibility with DNN 5.4.  You should get an automatic upgrade discount upon checkout in Snowcovered, 40% I think.

    Thanks!

    Hi Candace,

We've updated Dynamic Forms to the latest version (3.30.61) and get the same behavior.

I have the field options set as follows:
Filename Type: Unique Name (system generated)
    Alternate Upload Folder:
File Save Type: Filename only (i.e. yourfile.jpg)

Note, when I try to upload a file, the e-mail I receive comes across with the field name, but no file...  When I view the results through the module, the field name is listed, but no file...

If I chnage File Save Type:  to "Full path to file (i.e. http://www.yoursite.com/file.jpg) and test uploading a file, the Path gets added to the field, but no file gets uploaded.  If I check the site via ftp, there is nothing in the DynamicForms_Uploads folder.

    Please advise

Hmmm...I wonder if this is a permissions issue.  Can you please go to Admin, File Manager and try to add a file in that directory?  Thanks!

I was able to upload a file through the File Manager without any issue.

I then tried to upload a file using the File field in Dynamic Forms and it does not get uploaded.

    Please advise.

We may have to look under the hood for you.  Please use the Contact Us Support form and give us the following:

    1.  a host login
    2.  the URL to your Dynamic Forms page
    3.  the URL to this thread for reference

Please make sure you also provide us with your invoice ID.  Thanks!

I have to say that I'm extremely disappointed in what has been suggested thus far as a solution.

Your first recommendation was to buy your new software.
And now you are asking for FULL access to one of our sites to troubleshoot.

The only real suggestion has been the try the file manager to test for permissions.

Is there truly nothing else you can suggest? We would very my prefer NOT to give out host access to the site.

Sorry to hear that.  The only reason why I was asking for host access is because we aren't able to duplicate this.

You can try to duplicate it at our test site, www.betasprings.com (log in with host / dnnhost ).  Just create your own page with Dynamic Forms as the parent page.

Then please give us the URL to your test page and your results so we can review it further. Thanks!

    Hi Candace,

I would be happy to create the same scenario on your test site, but it doesn't look like the test site is running DNN 5.4.4. And I'm uncertain as to the version of Dynamic Forms your test site is running.

If you can ensure you are running DNN 5.4.4 and Dynamic Forms 3.30.61, then I can set everything up.

It appears you are running DNN 4.8.03, which has critical updates and dynamic forms 3.40.00, which isn't even available on Snowcovered...

I can export your betasprings form to our 5.4 site but it will be tested with Dynamic Forms 3.4 because we are testing the beta which is scheduled for release soon.

    Candance, no problem.

Here is a url to the form I created... It looks a little odd, but I believe that is due to the width constraints of the skin?

Also... do you guys have a place to report bugs?

    Thanks

    Hi DNNGuy,

I did some initial tests on your betasprings page and it seems to be working. But as you noted, this is on DNN 4.8. Can you try similar settings on your site to see if it works?

Will do more tests on the DNN 5.4 site tomorrow. Thanks!

Were you able to duplicate the error on DNN 5.4.4?

Please advise as we need to get this resolved.

Thanks for the follow up and sorry for the delay.

Testing on DNN 5.4 and using the using $(FileUpload_Link) token in the email, I got to these findings:

    1. It works when you select friendly name (filename with datetime) or unique name and choose full path.

    2. The unique name/filename only combination does not work.

Can you please try #1 on your end and see if you can work with this?

    Thanks,
    Candace

    Candace,

I tried both of your suggestions for option 1. and the file does not get uploaded.
I do receive a link to the folder through an e-mail form submission event, but no file is listed and when I browse to the directory via an FTP program, the file is not there...

I would assume, especially as you stated with point 2, that there is a bug with the upload feature?

Our client plans on going live this week and needs to have this feature working.

    Candace,

I noticed a new version of Dynamic Forms was released, so we upgraded the site with which we were having upload problems.

Here is what is happening now.
The upload appears to work.  When I view the results at Advance Features > View Form Results, I can see a full link and the name of the file that got uploaded.  The problem is that the URL displays correctly, but doesn't actually take me to the right location.  The href appears to be incorrect on the link...

Also... since we updated, none of the forms on our site will submit... or they take a very long time to submit.  We are receiving the following error in the event log

System.Threading.ThreadAbortException: Thread was being aborted. at System.AppDomain.GetId() at System.Threading.Thread.get_CurrentCulture() at Go22(RegexRunner ) at System.Text.RegularExpressions.CompiledRegexRunner.Go() at System.Text.RegularExpressions.RegexRunner.Scan(Regex regex, String text, Int32 textbeg, Int32 textend, Int32 textstart, Int32 prevlen, Boolean quick) at System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex.Run(Boolean quick, Int32 prevlen, String input, Int32 beginning, Int32 length, Int32 startat) at System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex.IsMatch(String input) at DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.HtmlUtils.IsHtml(String text) at DotNetNuke.Services.Mail.Mail.SendMail(String MailFrom, String MailTo, String Cc, String Bcc, String ReplyTo, MailPriority Priority, String Subject, MailFormat BodyFormat, Encoding BodyEncoding, String Body, List`1 Attachments, String SMTPServer, String SMTPAuthentication, String SMTPUsername, String SMTPPassword, Boolean SMTPEnableSSL)

    Please advise.

    Thanks for the link Ryan.

So presently, there is nothing that can be done?

Also... What do we do about the bug in the View Form Results?  When I click on the from results for a File Upload field, the link to the file does not work, even though the file does get uploaded.

    Thanks.

    Hi DNN Guy-

I've justed upgraded my DNN site to 5.5 and the issue referenced in Chad's blog appears to be fixed. As always, make sure you back up your site/db before applying the update. DNN 5.5 seems to be very stable for me and I haven't had any issues with it so far.

Site in question running Dynamic Forms 3.40.1.0 & DNN 5.5.0 (653)

Thanks for looking into this issue.  Please keep me posted.

Again, is there a place where I can submit bugs?  We use Dynamic Forms extensively, and I would be happy to report any bugs I find.

    Thanks
