When I started using DynReg, I was surprised to find that it was using the EMAIL_USER_REGISTRATION_ADMINISTRATOR_SUBJECT and BODY templates rather than EMAIL_USER_REGISTRATION_PUBLIC_SUBJECT and BODY templates when the portal was set to Public registration. Since the ADMINISTRATOR template was simply a rehash of all of the core Registration fields that ended up getting filled with erroneous data (since most of the fields are not on my Reg form), I changed the template to the text of the PUBLIC template.

When the email arrives, all of the spaces and line breaks shown in the template have been removed, so the email is a poorly formatted continuous string.

    The Template is as follows:

    ************************************************

        [Portal:PortalName] New User Registration

The resulting email looks like this:

    Eric.

Hi. This is changing in the next release to just use Dynamic Events but... for what you are trying to do you need to go to Admin, Languages, and then edit the language pack. Since Dynamic Registration sends them email out in HTML and DotNetNuke would send it out in TEXT before you need to add line breaks where you want them. So add BR Tags in those areas. I.e. < and then BR and then > (I can't add it exactly in the forum because it would accept it as HTML :)).

The templates for the emails are in the GlobalResources.resx under the App_GlobalResources folder. I tried adding line break tags, but it caused the email to get truncated at the first line break tag.

If I use Dynamic Events to send a custom email, does it bypass the DNN email?

You wouldn't want to modify that file directly, you would want to change it under Admin, Languages, Edit Language Set. Otherwise when you enter in the < this would cause issues in the .resx file because it encodes the < and > characters.

This won't be an issue in 2.4 as we will be removing the default emails and using events only which will provide more flexibility in what you send etc... You will also be able to send the DotNetNuke verificaiton code within the dynamic events etc...
