    DNN 441

    Dynamic Registration 2.3.2

For users already authenticated, I need to hide the password and username fields. When I select "Hide question from these roles > Registered Users" the fields are hidden, but then the form doesn't process. When I select, for the password fields at anyway, "Hide until forced visible by question event," the module breaks and generates this error:

    A critical error has occurred.
Unable to find control id 'Responses_ff51e7f7-103a-4594-9f8d-915f2dbc0053' referenced by the 'ControlToValidate' property of 'ExpressionValidate_ff51e7f7-103a-4594-9f8d-915f2dbc0053'.

It forces me to go into the database, find the value for the conditional ide field, and set it back to 0 just to be able to use the module again. I have reported this error twice.

Am I missing something? How can I do this simple thing without breaking the module?

    Steve,

Yes these are the three forced fields no matter what options are selected. These form fields are needed to correctly identify the user and so forth. In time we might change this but this was by design.

Depending on your exact needs the only way you can 'hide' these fields is if you setup within the DNN Core Integration, advanced settings, to ''Auto Create the username and password'. This will hide the fields initially although after registration they will still be visible.

It might help more if you explain the purpose in hiding these fields and what you are trying to do. Right now the module depends on these fields to be there for back-end processing and so forth but we might review it more if there is a universal need that would benefit everyone.

You asked that I explain the purpose of the need to hide these fields.

Password fields: I am setting up the form to process email commands into a listserve. It will be accessed only by authenticated users. I need to conditionally hide the password field and password confirm fields because I want them exposed only when the user selects a "I want to change the password" option. In other words, I want to be able to do a dynamic event with the password fields.

Username fields: I don't want the username exposed at all because it serves no purpose to do so for this form.

    Additional Issue

Password in Email: One thing I noticed is that the email token for password does not populate the email field unless the already-authenticated user actually enters a new password. I need it to populate the email field with the user's DNN password no matter what. I need it to do so because I need to fire off an email command with the password each time the form is submitted (something the list serve needs).

The reason I cannot use Dynamic Events, instead of Dynamic Forms, is because I want the user to be able to change his email address in DNN while also firing off an email command to the listserve.
