    Hi all.

I have the latest version of dynamic forms.  I created a form where registered users of my site are going to fill out periodically (a couple of times weekly or so).

I would like to create a field that automatically saves the username of the registered user that fills out and submits the form.

I sifted through the forum and I didn't find any info regarding this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hi Daniel,

When you manage your username field, go to Advanced Field Options and link this field to a core property. This way, the field is auto-populated (assuming the user is logged in). Then you can use the $(ShortFieldName) for this field if, let's say, you want to send an email. Hope that helps!

    Hi Candace,

    thank you for the reply.

However, I'm not sure I understand (I'm new to this, so I think I'll need a bit more info...).  I assume to do what I want, I must use "SQL as a default value" and set it so that the username automatically appears in the field.  But how do I do this?  What do I use as SQL?

Any more info would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

You don't need to use SQL if you just want to pick up the user's username from the core properties.  Check out  DSTrainingForm over at www.betasprings.com (please use host / dnnhost to log in).  You'll see username, firstname, lastname, and email displaying  the account info because they were linked to the core properties in Manage Questions, Advanced Field Properties.  (You'll get there if you click on the little pen icon beside the field.).

Is this what you're trying to accomplish?

Thanks a million Candace!  That's exactly what I wanted.  Works like a charm.  Turns out it was very simple (things are always simple once you know how to do it...).

    Once again thanks!

    Cheers!
