I am using a Dynamic Form to allow customer to sign up for several webinars.  When they select a webinar and time, and click "Submit", I create emails, set a DNN Role, based on the webinar chosen (for Newsletter emails later), and display a Thank You message.  At the end of the message, I have a link, "Sign Up for Another" that takes them back to the page again (which I guess they never left).  There, they can select another webinar and time, and the cycle continues.

However, if they do it without stopping to go get some coffee, the wierdest thing happens.....the second email gets sent, but the first one doesn't.  Also, the first DNN role is never set.  It appears that there is enough of a delay in doing these events, that they never get done.  If the user signs up for 3 webinars, only the last role is set, and they only get one email.  However, all the submittals are in the database, and available from the View Form Results.

Is there some way to ensure that the events complete prior to allowing the user to go back and start again?

    Paul,

Hi. Well all completion events get fired before the 'Display after message' is ever actually displayed to the user. Its not exactly as if the system is caching these etc... That is very weird though, is the continue link actually loading a fresh new page (not just like the back button but actually pointing to the same URL when you click it?). Also, is the DNN role set to add/remove or only to add/only remove etc? This can make a difference as the add/remove can actually remove the user if the field response does not set the response setup for the completion event. Also, it would help if you could replicate any of the steps/completion events not firing at www.betasprings.com (login as host/dnnhost). If you can setup a test page there and duplicate the issue we can review it, and if you can't duplicate it we could maybe determine the difference between your implementation etc...

    Hi Chad,

It is a link to the page in the Display After Save rich text box. ( /LinkClick.aspx?link=62&tabid=62 ). The form is back to its initial stage when the page is loaded. I am adding a Role only, using the DNN Role function in a completion event. Without fail, the only role that is added is the one for the last webinar requested (this actually seems to be true whether or not the submissions are done quickly). I forgot to mention that I am also doing a SQL query to update the number of openings left in the webinar. So there's a lot of "schtuff" going on.

I'll spend some time tomorrow setting it up on betasprings. Thanks.

    Hi Paul,

Can you try a completion event instead to redirect to a completely different page with your thank you message in a text module and the option to Sign up for Another links back to the form. Does this make a difference?

I'm assuming you have 3 different roles for each webinar sign up? Also 3 different email events based on the user webinar choice?

Check your version of Dynamic Forms. The latest version (2.7.5) includes the ability for the role event to be 'Add / Remove' (which is standard), 'Add Only', or 'Remove Only'. The 'Add / Remove' will always add or remove the user based on the condition of a field. So for example, if a field is checked for the response of the event then it will add the user to the role, if its not checked then it will remove the user from the role. So for the role event it wouldn't surprise me if it was basing all of this on the last time it was submitted (because for each submission it is either adding the user or removing the user from the role). If you need this to work in an add only fashion you should use that option when setting the module up (assuming you are running on 2.7 and not an earlier version).

    Hi Candace,

I originally went to a separate page upon completion, but I needed access to the responses and some registration information, so the Display After was better (although not without some interesting problems :-)

    I might try it again.

Hi Chad, I'm using version 2.60.54 (started this whole webinar thing early last year).

Hi. Well yes, the feature to add the user to a role (and not add or remove based conditionally) was only added in the 2.7 release. You might check into upgraded, even though you purchased 2.6 about a year ago you should receive 70% off if you upgrade to 2.7 and there are many new enhancements (you can also check these out on Beta Springs).

I added all this to the BetaSprings site, and it seems to be working well, which brings me to the next question. If I upgrade, will I have to re-create all my Dynamic Forms again, or will it convert the existing forms for me?

    Thanks for all your help,
    Paul

No, you won't have to recreate the forms. You should be able to install the upgrade on top of your existing version without losing the form settings.
