Hello.  I created a basic form with first and last name.  Works fine.  I created a new property in the core profile.  Added data to it.  Added a new item to the form, associated it with the property from the core I created, and it displays.  BUT....

Even logged on a the site admin many any changes.  The error code in the subject is what I get.  I downloaded the sample from example 1, and I got the same error. Any idea's?

    Thanks.

HI, this must be related to drag / drop feature. Can you go under Module Configurations / General Settings and check "Disable the Drag and Drop Admin Feature"? This should fix the error. -- David

HI, what version of DNN and DF are you running? Can you create a new page, put in DF, add a couple of fields and see if you can duplicate the issue or does it only occur on this particular page/moduleid? -- DAvid

    1)  Running DNN 5.1 (CE) with DF 3.0.

    2)  I created a brand new page.  Added the check mark.  Added First name, Last name, and Postal Code (all to configured to match the DNN defaults).  The first, and name name populate.  I add my zip code, and submit.

I no longer get the error, but the postal code doesn't set.

HI Chris, are you logged in as Host or Admin? Host has their own profile properties in DNN. Try logging in as a regular user and see if the postal code will stick. -- David

I logged on a regular user. Launched the page. The first and last name were correct. I added numbers to the postal code, and submitted. I then went into the account settings, and into the profile. The information entered did not stick.

Do I need to do any type of post action?

Ultimately my goal will be to set up a rating, and feedback for other users to sbmit their opinion of other users from a set of forms I create. Will this be possible? Thanks again for your support!

HI Chris, Dynamic Registration fields, if linked a user's DNN core profile or added using the "quick create property", will update the user's profile information. With Dynamic Forms, you can link to DNN profile properties but it won't perform an update unless you create an SQL form completion event to update those properties. Hope that answers your questions as to why changes in the DF form won't stick. -- David

Thanks for getting back to me.

    1)  I was hoping this tool would avoided that.

    2)  Can you possibly comment about my question above regarding the ability to use subsciptions to change the level of display of their profile (meaning if I created 3 different detailed forms fitting different tiers) the profile would display according to THEIR subscription level?

This ultimately is what I want to do with this tool....  Thanks

Okay, so let's say subscription profile is such that:
    1) subscription 1 has 20 fields (10 are universal - same as subscription 2 and 3)
    2) subscription 2 has 15 fields (10 are universal - same as subscription 2 and 3)
    3) subscription 3 has 22 fields (10 are universal - same as subscription 2 and 3)
You don't necessarily need to create 3 separate forms for this. You can create 1 form with all the fields and have certain fields be hidden / unhidden based on which subscription a user's level is.

However, does the user get to choose their subscription level or is it already set by you initially? -- David

Sorry if this is confusing.  This appears to be something uncommon for some reason.

Company A pays for a basic sub.  When a user named Bob views the Company A profile...Bo is presented with Company name, address, phone number, and a brief profile listed.  The listing that Bob can see has nothing to do with a group that Bob is in.  It is based on the subsciption level of Company A.

Company B has an upgraded subscription.  They display all the info that Company A can show to Bob, as well as detailed profile, web link, and operating hours.

Company C has a premuim subsciption.  They get the same info as A + B listed,  but they may get a forums section,  or maybe a rating/feedback section when view by Bob.  Bob would also need to have the ability to write to the Company C profile which is a refence to another DNN user.

Does this make sense?  Can your product do this?  If so,  how difficult would it be?

    Hi Chris,

Yes, this can be done with a combination of Dynamic Registration, Dynamic User Directory, Dynamic Forms and maybe Dynamic Login.  Here's my suggestion:

    1. Using DR, company will fill out basic registration form to select subscription level.  Additional fields can be handled in 2 ways.  You can either present them using question events based on their subscription level selected (it may get a little tricky with question events)  OR security roles can be assigned based on the subscription level.  Then, after initial registration with payment, Levels 2 and 3 will be given access to other instrances of DR where they can provide additional information.  These instances will only be visible to these roles.  That way, even though the profile properties are technically available for all, it will remain blank unless you have the right role and you fill it in.

    2.  Dynamic Login will allow you to set redirection based on the roles if you need to.

    3.  In Dynamic User Directory, you can add your fields in your template but some will be blank if they don't have it in their profile.  The only thing is that the View Details link cannot be made visible only if the profile has a role -- it will always show.  So you'll have to be a little creative in setting up your detail template.  Another option is to have multiple instances of DUD that will only display results based on role and other criteria.  This would be preferable to accomodate the additional benefits for the premium subscription.  So Bob can choose to use the "General Directory" or the "Specialty Directory" for example.

    4.  Dynamic Forms will be able to handle Bob sending an email to the Company.

I'm sure there will be more questions as you go along.  There are trial versions available for DR and DUD if you want to test it out first.  Thanks!

PS:  Chris, I think you may have also emailed me about this.  There are a couple of different ways to handle charges if the basic registration  will be free. You can either use the EnablePGateway feature (see Demonstrations Page, Demo 17) or you can process payment at the next instances of DR.

    Candace:
I will have to download the other trials and see how far i can get this to go.  Thank you.  Regarding the e-mail from Bob,  I would like to leave fdeedback from "Bob"  to Company C.  So Bob would need to be able to write to the core profile of Company C.  I assume this would need to be some kind of SQL Insert as mentioned from a discussion proir regarding testing with a postal code.  I do not mind buying modules if I can get done what I would like.

I'm pretty sure that can be done with SQL inserts.  Here's something to consider, though:  Say Bob sends an email to Company C and the contents gets posted to the profile property we'll call Feedback.  What happens when user John also sends an emai to Company C?  This will update the profile and write over Bob's feedback.  I imagine this is not what you would like to happen.

Instead, you might consider using Dynamic Forms field for Feedback and posting this on a 3rd party reporting module which can then be visible to all users.  Then on the DUD, you can have a link that says something like 'view customer feedback for this company' and redirect them.  Back to the Demo page, please see Demo 13, 14 and even 21 for examples of this application.

Of course, we can do this for you with Premium Support if you're in a time crunch.  Fill out this form if this interests you.  Thanks!

    Candace:
You and I are on the same page with the feedback.  Although I would like to do this on my own, as I would really like to replicate this process if this first venture does well,  I imagine you and the team would get it done better, and certainly much faster.  So I will submit a request for a quote.   I placed your name in the description of work to ensure that you get credit for the extra support sale.  If I do not proceed with the extra support, but instead purchase the modules.. I would assume I can still get support thru this forum.  Thank you!
