How large of a file should I be able to upload?  I'm having trouble with anything larger than 70 MB.  Also I’m noticing that for every upload I perform, it is duplicating the file in the DNN file manager and this is taking up unnecessary space on my server.  Here is what I’m seeing in the event viewer.

    HI, check this out:

There is a line in the web.config file that determines the maximum file size. You will have to increase it.

There is a file size limitation in the default web.config. You can increase the file size easily. You may wish to adjust the timeout setting as well. Here are the default lines from the web.config for 4.3.2:

    < !-- allow large file uploads -- >

    < httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="8192" requestLengthDiskThreshold="8192"/ >

Change the maxRequestLength and requestLengthDiskThreshold to whatever you wish. The default timeout is in the machine settings but you can override it here. So here's an example, you could change it to this to allow 10 meg files with up to 20 minutes of time to upload:

    < !-- allow large file uploads -- >

    < httpRuntime useFullyQualifiedRedirectUrl="true" maxRequestLength="10240" requestLengthDiskThreshold="10240" executionTimeout="1200" / >

In your case, you would probably want much greater values. -- David

As far as file duplication under "DNN File Manager", can you click on Synchronize files and see if this will clear out the problem? -- David

Well this is what I have:

<!-- allow large file uploads -->

<!-- allow large file uploads -->

If i watch the event viewer as i submit the upload, it generates the error right away so it know real quick it doesn't like what is happening. Do you know what else could be causing this? I CAN live with 70 MB but would like the ability to do more.

Synchronizing the files did not get rid of the duplicate items.

Let me know what else i can try. Thanks.

Hi, can you retype what you have but add some quotes around it so it doesn't render it as HTML in the forum? -- David

HI, requestLengthDiskThreshold should be the same as maxRequestLength (153600). Please change this and see if it works out for you. Additionally, you may want to increase executionTimeout to 1800. -- David

    David,

The requestLengthDiskThreshold and maxRequestLength are the same.  I increased the timeout to 1800 with no change in the results.  What else?

If you were to go to DNN Admin / File Manager and try to upload this file to a directory somewhere without using Dynamic Forms, will it work or error out the same way? -- David

Well that was a great troubleshooting step. Using the upload through the file manager has the same results as Dynamic Forms upload. So I guess this officially takes the issue out of your court. If you have any other suggestions I would be grateful, otherwise I understand that your job requires you to focus on support issues pertaining to your product. Thanks for your help and have a great day!

HI, you might consider posting this in the DNN forum. Also, check the limitations of your website / web hosting company to see if there's file size upload permissions that don't pertain to the settings in the web.config file. -- David
