I have a Dynamic Form (v2.7) with two dynamic email completion events.  The first email event fires, but the second one will not.

Both events are essentially the same.  Both are set to fire on Any Field Response.  Both have the same From address.  The To address for both is the same...a form short name, $(Email).  One email will fire, but the other one will not.  Any thoughts on what the problem may be?

    Hi!

Dont know if this helps, but i had the same need and configured it for acustomer a while ago. It worked fine with Version 3.10.1 of Dynamic Forms.

My config was also 2 mail FormCompletion Events and i did it also with a hidden field that retrieves the email adress of the current dnn-user to make it availlable as a token for the event.

One mail goes to the admin to inform him about the comopleted form and the other mail goes to the user with info about what she/he entered in the form.

So the principle is right I think.

Just a view suggestions from my thought:

    - Maybe there is some difference between the "ShortName" and the $(EmailAdr) Token in the "Mail To:" Field in the event?

    - Is the form accessible to "non-subscribers" too? In this case there may be no email adress availlable or entered if you have not set a potential mailadressfield to "required field" if it has to be filled in by the user

But it also may be a bug in the Version you are using ...

Worked well for me on DNN

5.1.2 wit DF 3.1 as mentioned before

    I hope this helps

    regards

    Don

Thank you, Don, for your kind reply.

The form is currently in development mode and is viewable only to administrators.  The email address is a required field.  I am doing the testing, so I am certain a valid email address has been entered prior to submission of the form.

I have confirmed that the $(Email) token is the same in both "Mail To:" fields in the events, and have confirmed that the $(Email) token is the same as the "ShortName."

The result is the same whether I use the token in the "Mail To" fields or hardcode the same email address in both events.  One message fires...the other one does not.

We have a similar form in production on another site, using the same verson of Dynamic Forms, so I do not believe the version is the problem either.

It must be something I am missing, but I am really stumped.  If you or anyone else has any more ideas, I would love to hear them.

    Thanks again,
    GeekGirl (feeling stupid!)

    Hi GeekGirl,

Is the event set to fire for 'any field response' or for a specific user response?

    GeekGirl already mentioned thisCandace:

"Both are set to fire on Any Field Response"

can you post a screenshot of your Completion events settings GeekGirl? Its hard  to imagine for me at the moment.

Maybe youre just overlooking something  because in the meantime youre involved in this issue to deep ... i know such situations where i was looking for an error for hours and somebody not involved had a look at it and it was clear immediately...

    regards

The first screen (Email Form Results) shows the one that is not working.

    Just a thought of mine:

try to make the event name short and without spaces or special characters

    Something like:

    MailFormRes

    and then try again

I am not sure but i hardly remember that i had some issues with spaces in Tokens and Shortnames ... maybe it helps

Thank you for your suggestion, Don.  Eliminating the spaces from the event name did not resolve the problem, but it was a good thought.  After a few more hours of troubleshooting, it appears the problem is related to a graphic image tag that is inserted in the html of the email message.  When the tag is removed, the message fires, but when it is present in the email content, the message does not fire.  Is there a special place in the portal file structure where images must be stored if they are to be used in dynamic emails, or maybe a Dynamic Forms setting I have failed to set?

The image html tag is as follows:

I know the path is correct because I used the Insert/Edit Image button in the editor window to locate and insert the image.

Hi, if you go to Admin / Event viewer, do you see any detailed error messages concerning that email event not being sent? Also, if you go to Admin / Newsletter and email yourself that same email content from here, do you receive the email? -- David

    David,

Thanks for jumping in on this.

    1.  I do not see an error message in the Event Viewer.

    2.  Yes, I am able to send the same message content to myself from Admin > Newsletters and yes, I do receive the email.

By the way, I have tried substituting the full pathname to the graphic file as well as the relative pathname.

    Hi GeekGirl

I am sorry, I do not know much about Images in DF but did you check if you are able to display the Image if you provide the full URL to the image in the browsers adress-bar when you are not logegd in to the portal or logged in as a user who should receive the mail

Would it be possible that this could be some issue  with access rights to the image?

    regards don

HI, can you turn on Debug mode and then fill out the form and hit submit. This will show you the completion events that get fired. Does the event with the image tag show that it got fired or not in debug mode? -- David

Don -- Yes, when I am logged out and drop the full URL into the browser address field I do see the image.  So I do not think access rights are at issue here.

David -- Once I get into debug mode, how do I exit debug mode?

All -- I am being called off this project for a few days.  I will let you know the current status of this issue as soon as I can resume.  I very much appreciate your efforts to resolve this.

Just click on the "Disable Debug Mode" link under the Quick Help column on your DF page (Edit Mode). -- David

I was never able to get the form completion email with the graphic in it to fire.  So I abandoned the graphic, deleted the email event and rebuilt it without the graphic.  The email now fires.

To David, Don, and Candace, thank you so much for your assistance with this issue.

Just found this thread. I am having the excact same problem. I have tried all the fixes mantioned and there are no images in my emial content. The email to me triggers, but not the one to the person filling out the form. I have tried putting an email in the field instead of the parameter and it still won't fire. I have tried adding more dynamic email completion events and they are not firing either. It's driving me crazy.

    I am using DNN5.2.3.

    Hi mamabeane,

Let's try to resolve the email event not firing first then we'll work on the image.  Please test a couple of things here:

    1.  In the email event that's failing, can you please tell me the exact contents you have in your TO address and FROM address?  Please specify any tokens being used.

    2.  Having 2 email events should not be a problem.  However, would it work for you if you just have one email event going to the user and just add your email to the CC or BCC section under the Advanced Email Properties?

    Thanks!

    Candace
