How Do I setup a simple submit form????

    Hello everyone I have what would seem to be a simple request. Does anyone know HOW or WHERE can I get info on setting a form AND submit button that would send that form info to an email address???

    I filled out the info in "Form Completion Events" as a "Dynamic Email" but I have no idea what i am doing and when im done the info disappears then when i test the form(click submit) it does nothing..maybe a refresh but other than that nothing..

    So any suggestions would be of great help...thanks!!!

    Hi Mr. Anderson,

    You were on the right track! This is something that you will do as an email completion event.

    1. First thing I need to know is your exact module version and your DNN version.

    2. So is the event not saving at all? Can you go back to it and edit? Or does it not even show up in the dropdown list?

    Hi Mr Anderson,
    If you added a new completion event then you will find your event listed in the drop down list in the 'select event' combo box. If not then your event wasn't created so you may want to try and do it again. When it is there then when you submit your form you will get an email generated if it is done right. Try making where the email goes back to yourself first to test that it is being created. If you have an email generated then you can go on with formatting and tweeking the email.

    Now after I select it from the drop down menu...then what?
    Do i click update event or update settings?

    Another question now, does the "from email address" matter? for test purposes?

    Not sure if this helps but when i click "View Form Results" everything is there. So it should be just something i am missing with setting up the dynamic email form completion event??

    Hi Mr Anderson,
    If you are creating a new completion event and when making changes to the completion event you will want to update the event or you won't keep your changes in the event.

    The From Email categories in the completion event allow you to set up the email address that the email is coming from and this tends to be a hard coded value of someone in the organization that the recipient will reply to if they need more information etc. The To Email is normally a token email value like $(Email) for each person in the list that it is going to. For testing make the $(Email) into something for yourself like anderson@gmail.com if this is a valid account so you can see what emails are going out look like.

    So from the sound of things I am doing most of this right but there must be something I am missing because when I click "submit" on the form nothing happens.
    Well I shouldn't say nothing.... If I look at "form results" the info is there from the form....so it must be something to do with the email portion of this setup???
    I tried 3 different addresses..nothing..
    What could I be doing wrong or missing?

    Hi Mr Anderson,
    Here are a few questions that will help us answer your needs:
    1. Can you tell us if you have a redirect URL setup under module configuration, general settings?
    2. Can you enable Debug Mode before submitting the form. If so, can you copy/paste the debug information that is processed after clicking submit?
    3. Does your email work for you under Admin, Event Viewer or Admin/Log Viewer?

    Hi Mr Anderson,
    I have to correct Item 3. Actually what is meant is, Admin/Newsletters or Admin/Bulk Email is where you can test email there first to see if its working on DNN.
