Hi i'm having problems making a quiz with 10 pages each with ten questions. I have setup 10 pages each one linked to the next one and passing in session variables the answer and "receiving" the answer in the next page in a hidden field with the same shortname (have set the receive and pass to session variable). After that when finishing the quiz i get only the answer for the last page in the view results (the last page has all the 100 questions, 90 are hidden fields). Is there trick i'm missing i lost a lot of nights trying to make this work, but it seems it really isn't working.

Hi Daniel, I may be missing something here but let me propose the following idea to see if I am on track with you. If you for example make QUESTION1 on page 1 pass to page 2 where there is a question with the same short name then it is for all practical reasons a COPY and you still only have ONE question and not TWO right? Now on the other hand if you have 90 unique hidden fields then you should be on the right track. Something about the logic and process if off. Can you give us an email with a login so that we can look at your site or you can go to betasprings.com and login with host,dnnhost and copy some part of it so we can look at an it together is a way to go forward from here. Thanks for the fast reply. I have 90 unique hidden fields in the last page, of course in page 2 i only have 10 hidden fields, they grow along with the new questions. Every question has a unique shortfieldname (most of them were generate from a import since i started with a gigantic form of 100 questions that the final client decided to split).
I'm sending login info and links to the contact form. p.s. I hack many options directly in the db since making changes (even with the advanced field editor) in so many questions in the UI is a nightmare.

Hi guys,
I thought I would jump in here as well.... I just changed the first field to be a textbox field and it shows the value for the first option when I save the first form. It should be working the same way if its hidden, have you checked the view source of the HTML? Is it not being set the same as a textbox?

Also, just a note that if you are updating fields in the UI and they are working then its likely something else you might have made (a change via the database) that isn't correct if you are manipulating the data without our API/UI. There are some ways we are improving this and you can copy existing fields, create fields from a query, etc... those still use the UI and API which is recommended, otherwise its very difficult to support  Thanks, -Chad |

Hi Chad, the changes that i made via the db was the push/pull session variables (set to -1) for the hidden fields, but i checked them in the UI and all seems ok. The strange thing is that filling the quiz to the end only page 6 and 10 show valid results all other are just empty with no results. It seems all other fields aren't being saved to the session.

I would check those in the database if you are making changes only... also, are these field types the same as the others or different? Anything else different? The code to set the session variables is the same for each and every variable, but it might depend on any other specifics set or not set int he database directly.

Hi again Chad, All the fields with user interaction are RadioButtons, and the receiving fields (Retrieve from session variable option) are HiddenFields, this is the supposed setup, right? I also tried to change an entire page using only the UI and it didn't change anything in the end. Only the last page as different kinds of fields, but it one of the pages that work. Is there a way to check the session state without debugging the entire dnn (i'm considering in setting up a local machine with this quiz to see what happens and inspect the session in vs). I already gave a user and permissions to technical support to see what's happening the this quiz.

Hi again, I just exported and imported everything, and the problem persists. Now no changes was made to Db, and i had to manually correct some issues with the import (required fields where no required field was needed and some other problems). So is there any solution to this? Do you need the exported modules? If so, where do i send them?
