I am using HTTP Post to send form variables to a Classic ASP page (I've inherited an older site). Right now, I created a simple Dynamic Form with an Email text field and a hidden field to pass along a "product".

Using the "Email Response to Site Admin" feature, I see that these two form variables are passing correctly to the email, but I am unable to parse and manipulate the form variables on the receiving ASP page itself. I need to be able to take these form variables and use my Classic ASP code to check them against a separate (non-DNN) database and do a few things based on the form data submitted.

I've written my own simple form in HTML (not using Dynamic Forms) and my receiving page handles the two variables correctly, as I need. But trying to do the same with Form data sent from Dynamic Forms isn't working.

If I use the QueryString option for the email, I can manipulate that variable as I need. But I want to grow this form into multiple text fields and passing an HTTP URL with a querystring containing 15 variables isn't an option (not professional and a little too sloppy.)

I'm using DNN 6.0 and Dynamic Forms 3.4 Trial

    Hi Matt,

I am sure this is something very small... The HTTP Post is used all of the time (by us on many forms as well) so I am assuming its an issue with just how its being rendered processed. Can you attach a screenshot of your event details? I forget the exact syntax but maybe the first parameter you pass doesn't need to have an & in front of it (or maybe the other way around)?

    Thanks!

Very cool. I'm suspecting I'm the weak link in this chain (being new to Dynamic Forms). Thanks for the help.

Edit 1: I'm also assuming I use Request.Form to get at the Submitted form variables?

Edit 2: Looks like the DataSprings site had a hiccup with my last update. Not sure if the screenshot was attached. Resubmitting.

Still waiting for a response.... Any additional help to add? My trial is about to expire and I would like to fully evaluate Dynamic Forms.

    Hi Matt,
Chad is out this week at the conference but to extend the trial I think you can install a fresh download of the Trial on top of the current one. I see that Chad recommended a way to correct things with the parameter passing. Did that suggestion help?
    Thanks

    Hi Matt,
If you send me an email through contact us on datasprings page I can get user credentials and update the trial to extend usage for another 20 days. It has to be done through host> Sql though. If you can wait then you can ignore this.
    Thanks

    Hi Don,

Thanks for the reply. I didn't see Chad's response to reinstall. I'll give that a shot.

    Hi Matt,
I found out that I will have to have host>sql rights to do the update of the trial for you.
Send me an email with credentials to your site and I can do it. My email is don@datasprings.com
    Thanks

    Hi Matt,

You might try and setup a quick example of the form you are posting to on www.betasprings.com (you can sign in as host/dnnhost).

I do know that we use the silent post feature a lot ((both sending silent post and receiving them). I also know that we have a demo that covers the silent post at http://www.datasprings.com and sends the post to the next page.

The request.form option on your other ASP page should work.

So... maybe attach a screenshot of your HTTP Post settings.

We are still working on the tutorial but you can view it here:
    http://www.datasprings.com/products/dnn-modules/dynamic-forms/dynamic-forms-demo-33-silent-post-demonstration

and then also review this blog post which should be helpful:
    http://www.datasprings.com/news/blog/postid/21

    Thanks,

    -Chad

Excellent! Thank you for the assistance. I was able to compare/contrast my site vs BetaSprings and got it working as I had hoped.
