    Hi,
I'm using the Auth.net Template and would like to change the "select product" field to a simple textbox where a user can enter any dollar amount.

    My questions are:
-how do I mask the textfield so it displays $xxxx.xx?
-how do I modidy the "your total is" field

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

    Hello Dan,

You may want to consider reviewing this demonstration:
    http://www.datasprings.com/products...lculations

Also if you need to format your dollar amounts to currency format, then I would recommend using Dynamic Forms built in JavaScript function "formatCurrency()"

You can simply go into a Question by managing and go under Advanced Field Options -> Then provide JavaScript into the Client Side section. This section accepts all valid JavaScript.

To utilize the FormatCurrency function, you can do so by:

    $(ShortFieldName) = formatCurrency($(ShortFieldName));

All you'll need to do is replace "ShortFieldName" with the name of your ShortFieldName tokens.

You may also want to refer to our other demonstrations:
    www.datasprings.com/formdemos

As well as dabble into our Dynamic Forms User Guide anytime you have questions about features within Dynamic Forms:

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
Thanks. I uploaded demo 20 but none of the total fields work. I just get 0 for total purchase no matter what I select.

Thanks for the JS to format for currency. That worked.
Is there a way to display the total like you have in the Auth.net example "your total is.." using inner html code?
Or should I just create another field and call the fieldname from the textbox?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

    Hello Dan,

Anytime that Calculations or Client side events(JavaScript) isn't working, I can guarantee that there's an issue with your JavaScript. Whether the MOduleID is different, short field names are different, HTML ID's are different.

More times than not, errors caused by JavaScript can be due to the fact that you're trying to reference something that doesn't exist or you're referencing it incorrectly.

    Here's a great recommendation:

1.) Download FireFox internet Browser if you don't have it installed already.
2.) Download FireBug plugin for FireFox.
3.) Install FireBug plugin into your FireFox browser.
4.) Enable FireBug and review the Console tab when reloading the page that you're having issues on.

    How to generally use FireBug:

    1.) Enable FireBug
2.) Go to the Page in which you're looking to record or search for any errors.
3.) Refresh the page with FireBug enabled.
4.) Sift through the Console tab.
5.) Errors will be dictated by bold red text.
6.) Try to debug the JavaScript errors that you see.

More times than not, you'll see an error pop up that's relevant to the calculation or client side event that you're trying to use.

Please review my instructions and let me know what you find.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
I've download firebug, but I didn't modify the template at all. It wasn't working from a clean import.
There are no errors, just no calculation takes place no matter what options you select. Grand total stays at 0.

This example is not something I need right now. I just thought you might want to take a look at it.

What I could use your help on, is how you can reuse a token in another field.
For example, I have a txt box with an id of "Amount" formated to currency. I'd like to add another line to say "Your total is: _" and have the field "amount" inserted into the html.

I saw something like that in the Auth.net example using inner html. Is there a simpler way to do this?

    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hello Dan,

If there are no errors, then you must be referencing the incorrect fields. Dynamic Forms and JavaScript are completely compatible together, so this insinuates that the syntax, logic, or semantics of your JavaScript calculations aren't 100%.

Please note that all Questions on your Dynamic Form don't carry on the HTML ID of the Short field name. The HTML ID for each Dynamic Form Question is a combination of the "ModuleID", "Unique GUID" and "ShortFieldName".

So if you're going to be referencing ID directly, be sure that you're referencing the correct ones.

Are you stating that you provided your own HTML into a Text/HTML Question type and assigned an ID to a custom Textbox that you created?

I can't support the programming language JavaScript as this is a skill set that is considered to fall under our Premium Services, and not standard support:

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
