    Exported a DF 2.5 form from one DNN site to another.

    First site is on DNN 4.8.1 or 2, form exported from here.

    Second site is on 4.8.4, form imported to here.

    After form is imported, despite rebooting, restarting, etc. captcha image in captcha question will not display.

    How do I fix this??

    Also tried creating a new captcha question and this did not work either.

    Thank you, Tom

    I've also discovered that the error messages for the captcha field don't display properly in the red list with the other question error messages.
    I didn't uncover this issue until today when testing.
    Thank you, Tom

    Hi.

    Does CAPTCHA work if you enable it on other areas within your portal? For example, if you enable it within the standard user registration or within the Feedback module does it work correctly there?

    Thank you, I just now redid everything on a copy of the site.

    Captcha still does not display, and it does not display in user registration and now I cannot log in at all to do anything with the site, I have to start over again with another copy of the VM.

    It is in the generated code according to Firefox but it doesn't display in FF, and in IE 7 it displays with a broken image.

    I'll try one more time with exporting a working form and then re-importing etc.

    Thank you, Tom

    The reference on both sites -- the one that the captcha works and the one that the captcha does not work -- is:

    img src="http://old.datasprings.com/DesktopModules/Dynamic%20Forms/ImageChallenge.captcha.aspx?captcha=35DECF5597BE24F0766AB6552B3DFE56658CA4970C956396E93E37422E173635F56D702EC1978F35C317562E9E130718AF35720B84836BA57916C326B1E6FB3FA7C94FB2B8F0EE75890E44284B0724BFC6C7B54E2848C4640510E09F1B21B5837EA0D1592B136C6F1B5FB49E1BB7869AA8E8D6F25EC81F3D&alias=dnntest1" border="0"

    There is no corresponding file in the folder.

    Thank you, Tom

    Hi. Well yes 'ImageChallengage.captcha.aspx' is not an actual file that needs to be in that directory. There is something (setup in your web.config) to actually handle anytime that file is called upon. Our module uses the core web controls CAPTCHA property, so as long as its working within the core it should also work within the module. WE are getting ready to release a patch/enhancement update to 3.2 which allows for an extended CAPTCHA field (you can demo if you go to www.datasprings.com and click on Register) or visit www.betasprings.com. However, its also possible since its implemented in the same that you will also run into problems with it.

    I am wondering if it could be a virtual machine issue VS standard machine?

    Nothing to do with VMs etc., I'd only be able to consider 3.2 if it really has major improvements over the current version we have, 2.5.
    And how much does the upgrade cost??

    Using the above information from Snapsis, Snapsis.PageBlaster.config was modified to exclude captcha and the captcha now works correctly in the form.

    I forgot to say above: The error messages for the captcha field, which is the last field on my form, still do not display properly.
    They appear on top of the captcha data entry text box instead of in the red UL-formatted list with all the other error messages.
    Not good...confuses users and makes captcha field usage worthless and useless, since people won't know what to do...
    Not to mention lots of non-compliant HTML code in the generated code, plus toooooooo many tables...
    Hopefully the above fix will help some people, though it does not fix whatever errant code causes the captcha field's error messages to display incorrectly.
    Wasn't this checked before 2.5 was released???
    Thank you, Tom

    Now that I have calmed down...to be fair, the captcha form field does leave a lot to be desired.
    I had to do a lot of CSS manipulation to style this form field's display to look like everything else in my form, consistency is very important in site design.
    It's certainly possible that the CSS is messing things up...
    I still don't like the captcha field implementation in this app...
    I'll have to take it out...the way it is now won't work well for end users.
    Thank you, Tom

    Ok, well now that you have calmed down...

    So the issue was a combination of the Page Blaster module and the DNN CAPTCHA control? Regarding the other captcha issues please open a support ticket, ill make sure you get an upgrade. I was actually referring to 3.2 for the version of CAPTCHA in the registration module. The enhancements are also in the coming 2.6 patch of Dynamic Forms which I can provide you as well. This patch includes a new option (you test this on www.betasprings.com). You can also click 'Register' on www.datasprings.com to see the new field type. The new CAPTCHA field allows for over 25 different image types, a refresh icon, a sound icon to voice the letters/numbers etc... We will continue to review enhancing all of the field types.

    The 'table' structure of Dynamic Forms allows for many options, we will review changing tihis structure down the road but to many of our customers these are enhancements to use things such as :

    * Question Header
    * Question Footer
    * Example Text
    * Label/Field in same column
    * Field added to same row as preview field

    Etc...

    Thanks,

    Chad

    Not sure if it will help, but we currently use DNNMasters SEO module to generate user-friendly URLS.

    The Advanced CAPTCHA image in Dynamic Registration 3.2 was not showing up for us.  To fix it, we added:

    LanapCaptcha.aspx

    as one of the excluded URLs for rewriting.

    This fixed the problem immediately.

    Best Regards,

    Grant
