These options are used for getting the values from query string or from session. you can save the value in session and retrieve it or pass it as a query string and retrieve it For example you have field firstname and u check the option pass values of this question to session variable then this value can be retrieved in any page using the retrieve values from session variable. But it is to be noted that the second page should also have the same shortname used in the first page. If u used firstname then second page should also contain firstname. Basically it is for passing the values from one page to another page and also for db operation
