    Running OIE4.10 on DNN5.6.1.  I have read and overcome all the known issues with DNN5.6.1 except for one last problem.

    We have several email lists.  Some are used for testing emails before we send them out to the public lists.  When we send email to our test lists, they go out following the plain text or HTML preferences set by the members of those lists.

    However, when we send the email to the public list (which includes many people from the test lists, too, who were getting HTML versions of the mail) it overrides the preference set by the subscriber and only sends out plain text.

    How do I fix this?

    Hello Alden,

    Is it possible that the email accounts you're testing with convert HTML emails to plain text??

    The same subscribers receive HTML mail on the small test list. It is only when we use the big 3000 subscriber list this happens. The test subscribers have specified HTML mail, but for some reason that is overridden only in the big list.

    The large list sends out emails in batches of 200. Could it be possible that the server is stripping the HTML after you queue them to send? Should I ask my web host (PowerDNN) about this, too?

    Hello Alden,

    When this occurs is anything logged into Admin -> Event Viewer??

    This could be due to a setting on your SMTP Server.

    You may want to talk to your Hosting provider if they take care of your SMTP actions.

    Hi Alden,

    Let me also add some questions here. Did you recently upgrade to DNN 5.6.1 or is this a fresh install?

    If it was an upgrade, did it work correctly before you switched to DNN 5.6.1?

    Opt In Email 4.1 is an older version and is not supported on DNN 5.6.x. I will recommend you upgrade to Opt In Email 4.3 if the problems persist. You should be eligible for a 40% discount when you do the upgrade based on our Upgrade Policy.

    I have been working with my web host to see if there are SMTP issues that could cause this.  The web host is PowerDNN, and they basically say no.  They don't do anything to the outgoing stream.  And I don't see anything in the event viewer.

    Everything was working fine until we upgraded from DNN 5.4.4 to DNN 5.6.1 in February.  Does OIE4.3 fix all the DNN5.6 issues like not allowing a friendly name and not working with the new email address regular expression?

    If you're on DNN 5.6.1, you'll still need to use some workarounds as described in this forum thread:

    However,the latest version, Opt In Email 4.3.71 is fully supported on DNN 5.6.2 which was released just a few weeks ago.
