I am running on DNN 4.4.  I installed Dynamic Registration 2.4 over version 2.4 (following the file removal process outlined elsewhere).  FWIW, I have a post-registration event to send an email.

I checked the box to redirect the user to the previous URL after registration.  The label next to the checkbox indicates a check there will override the Register/Update URLs in the questions directly before it.  However, I have not been able to get this to work.  Even with this checkbox checked, I am re-directed to the page/url indicated in the Redirect Page After Registraion setting.

This is a crucial feature for us and our users.

    Thanks in advance,

    Bill

    Bill,

Hi. I have been reviewing this issue over the last two days and wanted to get a response out while we continue to research. Basically this feature was implemented to redirect the user to the URL Referrer (meaning the previous URL if you were going from one site to another). During initial testing this also worked though to redirect back to the previous page but I am not sure if things have changed within the core recently or maybe this changed based on friendly URL's, but thats no longer the case.

Anyway, the short version of this is that we don't have an option to redirect the user to URL they were previously at. We have posted some threads to the ASP.NET forums and also to the DotNetNuke Benefactors forums on dotnetnuke.com and will await a response there. Basically we are looking for the core team to provide either a cookie, session, or viewstate variables for the 'Previous TabID' that the user was on. They already have core functionality to gather the 'ActiveTab' so I am assuming right before that is getting set they could also set a 'Previous Tab'. I have researched and searched through the API and code for any currently session or cookie variable for the previous TABID and it doesn't appear to be an option yet. Without adding this to the core I am not sure we will be able to continue offering this feature within the module (except in cases where it comes from another site and there really is a value for the response.urlreferrer)

Thanks for the response and your continuing work to resolve this, Chad. FWIW, we have Friendly URLs turned off.

Looking through the source code I think I see where the problem lies. I'll run that by you through other channels.

    Thanks again,

    Bill

Hey everyone. I just wanted to follow up on this post as we do have a fix for this now. We will release the fix in a future incremental patch release (probably 2.4.1) but if anyone is using this feature now please open a support case and we will get you the patch.

Bill discovered / brought to our attention that the request.urlreferrer does not return the correct value after a page postback. Because of this the previous URL was never getting stored correctly. The way around this is to save the request.urlreferrer to a hidden field during the initial page load. Thanks again Bill!
