Hi, I need people from thirty different groups to fill in the same form. There will be one manager per group. Each manager will need to view the results of their group - and only their group.

The question is, can I create only one form for all this since the questions are identical? I believe all the individuals can use the same form and just choose from a drop-down which group they belong in. But when the managers view the reults of the form, I'll need to somehow keep one manager from seeing the other group's form submissions. Can that be done?

Of course I'll need to still have the option for me to see all the form submissions across all the groups.  It seems this requirement would keep me from creating 30 different forms.

Can someone help with this design question? Thanks in advance!

Well, this can be done but you will need to use a listing module such as Open Web Studio to display the results (for filtering out the data based on group). A quick analysis would be:
    1) create 1 dynamic forms page, and include an SQL completion event to write the field results to your own SQL table
    2) use Open Web Studio to retrieve the results of that SQL table but filtering out the data based on group

If you need help with this type of implementation, please take a look at our premium support: (http://www.datasprings.com/Premium-Support).

David, I understand your solution. And a follow up question if I may. Why must I make my own SQL table? Why can't I just edit the table that Dynamic Foms is using? Thanks for your time. - Mark

Because it would be more cumbersome and difficult / messy to retrieve information from dynamic forms tables (dynamicforms_question,dynamicforms_questionresponse). You would need to perform an inner join on two tables and column names would be messed up. Also, these tables have all the questions/responses from all your forms on your website. Also, you won't be able to have an easy way to filter the data based on groups. By storing the results in one SQL table, the column names will match up to the shortname fields and you have more control / knowledge of the data. -- David
