How DataSprings Helped TechWise Research Implement its New Website
This post is intended for anyone who is considering implementing a DotNetNuke website incorporating DataSprings modules. My company, TechWise Research, conducts web-based market research surveys for high-tech companies. Six months ago we decided to replace our old static informational website (which was designed in 1998 using MS FrontPage) with a new database-driven website. After careful evaluation of several companies and technologies, we settled on DNN and hired Chad Nash and DataSprings to help us with this endeavor. Looking back I can say that was one of the best decisions we made in 2009! Before explaining why we are so satisfied with DataSprings, I want to briefly describe which modules we purchased and are using.
I first became aware of DataSprings when I started to look for a premium registration module. The basic registration module that comes built-in for free with DNN is too simplistic and limiting for our needs. We needed to be able to design custom registration fields. I looked at several competing modules and eventually selected Dynamic Registration. It is extremely robust and so far has met all of our needs. If we ever came up with a requirement that DynamicReg could not handle, I am confident that Chad would either recommend an alternative or quickly develop new functionality to meet our needs. Am I happy with DynamicReg? Yes! Would I recommend most companies buy it? No.
You may be wondering why I do not recommend a module that has performed so well for us. Although DynamicReg would be a great solution for some companies, I think there is an even better alternative for most. I recommend the DataSprings Collection. This collection, which we bought for $350 through Snow Covered, comes with over 20 modules (including DynamicReg). Many of these other modules offer features that greatly compliment DynamicReg. So far on our site we are using Dynamic Forms for a "Contact Us" form, Dynamic User Directory to manage our user profiles, Testimonials to display customer testimonials, Dynamic Image Rotator for a flash movie on our home page, and Quick Poll. Next week I will be working with Chad to implement Opt In Email, which we will use for marketing campaigns and company announcements. We do use a couple of modules from other companies on our website. However, the seven DataSprings modules we use form the backbone of our new website.
DataSprings backs up these great products with even better customer service. Chad and his support team were extremely helpful and responsive in all phases of the purchase process including pre-sales support, installation, training, and technical support. In addition to buying the DataSprings Collection, we also purchased a block of technical support hours. Although not necessary, it did help speed the development time for our website.
In case you are wondering, this is an unsolicited recommendation. I just like to recognize excellence when I see it. If you would like to see their products in action, please check out our website.
